I believe your issue is: confirmation bias. Otherwise, it is hardcoded to intentionally make it the most frustrating mechanic ever conceived. I will go with the former for now until actual evidence presents itself ;)
I don't see any issue with your suggestion... I just can't remember the last time I even opened the trade interface TBH. It's just a small step toward making the entire thing "just pick what mineral you want to trade for", which already exists, you just cannot get a special deal for it.
I even started to suspect it follows some kind of twisted "law of scarcity" where minerals that are "rare" cost more and thus are in higher demand to buy, and vice versa. But it doesn't.
considering everybody has the same deal, it's just nonsense. :P
Random is just that : random.
In any case, the Mineral Trade terminal isn't supposed to be consistently helpful. You use it when you're, for lack of a better word, desperate. For instance you need 100 Enor Pearl but Sand Blasted Corridors and Salt Pits aren't in rotation, and you don't have enough time for another mission, that's where you'd consider consulting the Mineral Trade.
but managment don't want it to happen.
