But that's it? A pretty colored ring and stars?
Season rank gives you cosmetics and resources until rank 100. Past that you get credits, I think.
After that? No, but whatever else you would do?
Some people may assume that if your character hasn't been promoted too many times, you may not be ready for harder content. And some hosts will have promotion requirements in their server name (eg. "silver promotion or kick"). Then again, it seems like a lot of us veterans avoid those servers anyway, so you may not be missing much if you're not welcome in those games.
The other thing is that doing more promotions is the only way to get your player (blue) rank to go up. Again, some people may judge your ability based on that (lower player rank = inexperienced), but the other thing is that there are some assignments to unlock certain cosmetics that only become available when you reach a certain player rank (I think the last one is at player rank 100). So, if you care about the cosmetics, you may want to keep promoting at least until you have unlocked those assignments.
Yes.
Correct. As Enfild said, your player rank goes up 1 level for each 3 dwarf levels, and the dwarf level stops at 25. Promoting a dwarf resets their level to 1, and then you can level them up to 25 again (gaining more player ranks along the way).
Thats said, if you reach player level 100 (which unlocks the final assigment for reaching a certain player level) the only reason to go further is for the gold rank achievement. But if you have also reached that point there is really no reason to promote even further beyond if you dont care for shiny badges.
Beardus.
