Cant run on 60 stable fps
Even though i meet the recommended requirements, during big fights, or medium fights on big maps, my fps go down to 48-50, plus i get some drops on other players joining, or new entries being added to read.

I got a Gtx 970, i5 8400 and 16 ram, and yeah, i disabled the "EQ" stuff on the audio options, i cant manage to play the game at a stable 60s, i heard the game doesent run entirely well in better setups still, any advice?

Sadly, performance is not the strongest side of this game. My fps vary from around 200 to 40 depending on:
- how many players are on the server
- what mission type it is (escort eats the most)
- how many enemies are on screen (higher hazards run worse)
- if you're the host (host have lower fps since they're running the whole server)
- what biome it is

So in theory you'll have the most fps by playing solo on lower hazards in something like a mining expedition and simple biome.

For majority of people the bottleneck will probably be the CPU so changing your graphic settings will do little to nothing but it's worth a try.

Speak for yourself. Allot of users have no issue.

Yes, if your standards for performance is as low as 30 fps, there's no issue. But this is not enough for a lot of people.

What are your specs?

I'm playing w/ a 3080ti & i9 10900k @ 1440p on max settings with 200+ fps and dips to lowest 120 during crazy ♥♥♥♥. Lot of my friends have similar or worse hardware and run the game fine.

There's a mod that removes decals and particles that can be very heavy during high octane action and cause performance dips, you can also try Advanced Darkness which removes the Volumetric fog from the game, it gave me and increase of about 5-7 FPS and made my game also look better

Names of the mods
Particles Remover
Decals Remover
Advanced Darkeness
BluePrint manager

if you need help setting them up and getting things running you can reply to my post here and add me and I'll walk you through it on Steam or Discord

Depends which users you are referring to. Are you referring to 1060 and 970 users? Which according to the steam survey is the most common series people have especially with the gpu shortage?

@OP

Try dx 11 mode and check if your cpu is holding yo uback or the gpu

I managed to play a year of DRG with my GTX750Ti. The FPS was crap but I knew it's my computer.

The experience was still great. I was still able to complete all those EDDs, even with my pals who were greenbeards back in the days. My only complaint was that M1000 is very hard to handle when the FPS is too low (20-ish).

Now it runs perfectly smooth with my 3060Ti and 144Hz monitor.

Simply put, "60 stable FPS" is a luxury in a somewhat fancy game. You need better specs.

Aren't mods a specific queue? Like, can players with mods play with other players that have no mods installed?

I'm interested, adding you and we do it later, thanks!

And nobody asked for his screen resolution yet...
I needed a bit of tweaking the settings to get it run with more or less stable 60fps on UWQHD with a 1070.
So if you are playing on higher resolutions, your 970 might be the bottleneck.

With high entities count (like swarmers and golden bugs) i also become occasionally single-thread-cpu bottlenecked.

First you should take a look at how much your gpu is utilized while playing. If it is not 99% then something else is the bottleneck. If it is at 99% most likely your gpu is the bottleneck.

The game plays well on better systems. I play nowadays with a 6900xt and 2700x in UWQHD at stable framecapped 100fps and the gpu is still bored.

I also assume we are not talking about a laptop and accidently run the game on the CPUs iGPU?

This game's optimization is kinda funky. I have a ryzen 5 2600, gtx 1660 ti, and 16gb ram and almost never have noticeable frame drops below 60 fps, yet my friend with an rtx 2060 and an i7 (admittedly a really old one) experiences more frame drops than me

Performance seems heavily CPU bound. I get 60 FPS normally with occasional dips to 30 during swarms no matter if the graphics settings are maxed or minimized.

RX Vega 56 8 GB card
Ryzen 7 1700 CPU

Ofc its going to run smoothly for you when you put the most powerful gpu that exists in your rig, and a 10 core cpu. (according to passmark)

Just so you know for the future, an i7 means nothing. It's like saying I have an iphone. Cool, which one? Is it a 9700K, a 7700k, a 12700k, or a 2700k? That's a sample of just the X700K model from four generations. There's a ♥♥♥♥ ton of i7 series processors. You need to be specific when talking about hardware.

This was funny to me.

"Simply put $2000+ worth of components into your PC and you'll get stable FPS."

I mean, yeah, but the most popular graphics card according to Steam remains the GTX 1080 or something like that. The vast majority of users cannot afford top of the line hardware, which I'm sure you're aware of, which makes me not understand the point of the post.

To define a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I counted all the intel i7 processors. I probably miscounted but its about 280. Thats how descriptive intel i7 is. I counted them because of all the people saying intel i_ as their specs.
