Also, you can use retrieve axes if they miss.
ALSO also, you can use your axes to break open Ebonuts instantly, as well as clear most flora (like radipuffs, or especially those toxic mushrooms in fungus bogs), and retrieve them after.
Also if you hit a target, the axe might not always be spend either, as this is determined by hitpoints lef on said enemy.
Trowing axes count as direct damage for damage calculations on frozen enemies, just like any direct damage type like gunfire would do. They dont get a higher damage bonus to frozen targets than guns do. Its the same x3 damage on everything.
Trowing axes have a small AOE portion that is unaffected by the frozen status, just like from other sources (like the autocannon).
If you get the timing right and they are still frozen that is :)
They got 3 portions of dmg, of which only 1 profits from frozen.
50 melee, 110 melee (profits from frozen) and 80 aoe.
