B. You saw the word "experimental" next to it right?
HDR works well for me in other games, but not DRG.
If it could be adjusted in a way that the flares are no more necessary during gameplay, it's an exploit.
Just wanted to know if there is an option in DRG to brighten everything up a little. cause without HDR i can see everything kinda well, but with HDR.. the Black gets real black. But also poorly lighted areas which normally would be kinda visible are just pitch black. Which wouldnt be too bad if there were some Options ingame to adjust the overall brightness of the HDR. But so far i couldnt find any Options for that and wanted to ask if there are other Options that affect HDR? The Gamma option ingame doesnt do anything. I can brighten up my screen via its own Options, but that would destroy my Options in every other Game and also my Windows desktop would likely make me blind the moment i close down DRG.
There is an experimental board to discuss experimental stuff in part cause some dun want the spoiler and rather just wait for the update.
The game lacks exclusive full screen support; until it has that support real gamma control (Yes I am calling the in game slider fake, or an abstraction) will not be a thing. As without exclusive full screen the gamma is locked to the desktops settings. (Much like resolution, and refresh rate)
It is the same reason you need Windows HDR enabled for HDR to work in this game. While in other games (Horizon Zero Dawn, Evil Geniuses 2, etc) you don't as the software can override desktop settings with exclusive full screen.
I'm sure more advanced options in game will come eventually though.
i get that it's in an experimental stage but right now enabling it is just a flat downgrade imo. to be fair though i wouldnt be using it anyway because i care far more about performance over visuals
It only looks like that in screenies, it looks fantastic in action.
Colors look extremely vibrant, that's kind of the whole point.
HDR has pretty much no performance hit, (it can cause slight input lag though similar to vsync, but most TVs have a game mode that reduces this) since it's more a TV hardware thing than a software thing.
Ya, it looked fantastic, but in places like Hollow Bough for me, even a scout flare would put out light in about 5-8 meter diameter around it and everything beyond it would be pitch black. The colors were sharp and vibrant, the ones not in the blackness.
Pumping the gamma for me just began to turn the blackness kind of grey and started muting the colors I could see. I'm sure it's monitor to monitor as far as results, so I would recommend anyone playing with the HDR for a bit, but don't flip out if they can't get results that are satisfactory.
