Seriously though, just play the game; you aren't obligated to wait for them to be interested. Nor is the power increase from leveling really that much to worry about if they do want to play someday.
Show them this vid, worked 5 times out of 5 for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Hl02yCWOZM
Just play the game and enjoy what you have, also give randoms a chance there are lots of people looking for new connections.
you shouldn't worry, you can join or host a public match
I've learned that sometimes in order to get your friends to play, you have to take the first step and play yourself. If one person does something, another will join. If two are doing something, more people will join. If nobody starts, nobody plays. If you play, your friends may just follow you in turn.
I bought it regardless and absolutely love it and now have 350+ hours in.
dont miss out on this masterpiece because of them, jump in and group up with randoms.
Then he says the randomization is too boring, after about 3 missions. I mean what do you expect? It sucks we had to disagree on the game. But yeah, the solution is that some people will never be happy because they just hate certain genres for no good reason. Find new friends. Best way to do that here is to play with randoms, and add anyone who's super chill and helpful. I've made a good dozen more friends that way.
The very worst of it is that you have access to more class mods and perks, and potentially weapon overclocks (available after promoting a dwarf for first time) before they do.
Don't wait for them.
You're not going to become "overpowered" compared to them just because you have more possible upgrades. Upgrades just make things more doable/comfortable, with a few exceptions coming from overclocks (but there are a hundred of them and only a few will impact your gameplay significantly)
