also that can be a cool option if the devs decide to upgrade basco for secondaries objectives.
Let's look at what Bosco can do.
-Mine and bring all carryable primary objective items directly to you: Eggs, Aquarqs, mini-mule legs
-Mine all minerals so all you have to do is pick it up and deposit include compressed gold, bittergem, jadiz
-Dig any tunnel through designated compressed dirt
-Destroy virtually all enemies with no assistance with the exception of maybe Korlock Tyrant Weeds and even those he can do all the work on the sprouts leaving you just to take cover and take care of the core (takes longer, but I've had him do it). Even Bulks, Crassus, Bet-C. If you can just stay away from/out of line of site all you have to do is let Bosco pick them to death. Dreads, admittedly, would be a problem, especially the new ones.
-Build and repair all pipelines in refinery with a click once you've laid the pipes down.
-Finish off frozen enemies for you if you're running a cryo-driller build
Bosco's weaknesses:
-Bad at defending and can't repair the drilldozer
-Can't retrieve most secondary objective items
I'm sure this list is incomplete, but they have to leave SOMETHING for the player to do in solo. In all honesty, he's about the best AI companion for solo play in any game I've ever played.
Also yes normally you can find way more than is needed on secondary's but fossils as an example I have quite often found the set amount and never any spare that I can see.
Also all traversal tools being equal IE: can reach all things is a joke.
I solo Haz 5 with Bosco all the time. Everything I described in my post, Bosco has done for me on Haz 5. Give up Bosco's faster digging on his first mod tier in favor of higher damage and he can take down a Bet-C alone in about 90 seconds. Don't take the extended damage and it takes over 2 minutes. Crassus take forever regardless. Bulks you just have to avoid. Korloks take patience. But with everything, it goes quicker when you work WITH bosco
The only class where secondaries sometimes get touchy solo for me is gunner since you can't grab without dropping from the zip, but you can usually carve out a ledge by the item and stand there and get it. You just have to play smart with the zip lines. As far as finding the secondaries, it's no more of a challenge with Bosco than it is playing on a team with no Scout. Every time I struggle to find my last item, I almost always end up spotting at least 1 or 2 more I missed on the way out. I've kept count and literally had missions where I ended up getting 20-30 fossils or boolo caps in solo or team play. I specially remember a 30 fossil haz 4 team mission a while back. Not all are that generous.
I'm not saying that some things aren't more of a challenge with Bosco. But on the whole, Bosco is more valuable than human teammates more often than he's a problem.
As far as Bet-Cs, below is actually when I learned that Bosco makes Bet-Cs easy. That's on Haz 5. I started trying to figure out how to handle the Bet-C. I did a little damage to it, but Bosco was pretty much the man there and in that vid he DID NOT have the damage boost mod on. Watch the Bet-Cs health bars drain before I even pull up a weapon as Bosco digs in.

The idea that he's meant to be a teammate replacement for everything except for secondary objectives because they're different for some reason is a strange one.
He can help with a bunch of secondary objectives now anyway. Or are you going to go ask the devs to disable his ability to mine dystrum/carry seeds/shoot fleas because noooooo he's not allowed to help, even though his purpose is to help?
At first I was against the idea, but a lot of people want it, and since he can help with every other secondary objective, it only makes sense he should be able to help with all of them.
All that said, I know what problem you're talking about and it is a real issue. There are some situations where their placement is ridiculous, either because they're on the ceiling of a massive cavern or they are floating in open space because of an explosion or drop pod landing through them. I have an open suggestion thread where I requested making wall-mounted secondaries fall when dislodged (but still disallow letting Bosco do that or even carry them). Even a Driller could handle a ceiling fossil if it could fall using implosion mining, which is a really useful skill to practice in solo mode.
