Scout is more capable than most people realize. Miner, Medic, Light Bulb all in one baby! Don't even get me started on cryo nades...

Scout always be the funest and the best class in the game for me ;)
Rage about how the team act.. Mmmm ok I know the feeling lol
The bad treatment of scouts is imo partly to blame on terribad scouts and the other side of the issue are simply people with anger issues or people who should play with bots (if they want slaves).
Everyone probably had their experiences with bad scouts but I've seen way to many cases where the people started blaming everything and anything that happens on the scout.
Commanding him around around in an agressive tone from the get go or going completely ballistic on voice over basically nothing, those weren't even bad scouts in the cases where I've seen/hear it happen.
Let's just say I'm not surprised you probably didn't like your first taste of scout (not even implying you did a bad job). My only suggestion for you would be to not call Molly as a scout. You're denying 75% of your team access to it while you could probably travel to it yourself in a matter of seconds.
And I want to strangle each at every engineer, who puts a platform at the resource at the wall and even after I placed a zipline there (cuz we dont have a scout) he still builds himself a bridge with a dozen of platforms.
Getting ignored by the team always feels terrible, man. Especially when they complain about "why we dont have a zipline/shield/wall of lead there?", yet don't give a sh*t about your existence next second.
That's also because most people still havn't realized that Scout deals damage.
He doesn't have any kind of aoe, but he can dish out just as much single target damage as the others if built for it. Minigun is still the king, but Scout's weapons don't slow him down (at the contrary, they make him faster... except M1K), and they have more effective range, which Scout is unmatched at.
I assume you're not talking about engies platforming under ziplines to make getting off of the zipline easier/safer (especially when getting stuff on walls with it), but don't forget some do. After all, despite Engie & Scout being considered the standard for accessing difficult ressources, Engie's platforms and Gunner's Ziplines pair well together.
But yes, people do whatever they want, that's something one has to accept when playing with randoms. At least for traversal, everyone has their own tool and that's fine. I'm sure some drillers are annoyed when no one uses their tunnel, and some engies are annoyed when no one uses their platforms. They can all traverse a room just as well with their tool, so if driller digs up to a high ledge, while gunner ziplines to it, and engies does platform stairs, i don't think that's an issue, albeit it being a bit of a waste of ressources.
Yea, I get that. Generally, I don't. I was thinkin' more like, as the Scout yer job is to quickly traverse paths that others haven't (toward end of mission). But if you find a Pearl or what-not, you have a heck of a time gettin' it into Molly if the rest are clustered in one room 50m away. Or the time I had four testicles and I couldn't get 'em to lemme have her...
No one notices having enough ammo, but they sure notice a lack of it.
No one notices being able to see, but they sure notice not being able to see.
No one notices a lack of acid and webs spraying down from the ceiling, but they sure notice it when they're getting rained on.
A good scout is a scout you never even notice doing their job.
There are some cases where ziplines are too dangerous to use, namely ones involving lots of bugs. But I make use of ziplines when it's safe all the time.
team can be "thankless" about scout who care to bring more than enough nitra. also Scout can revive the team 100 times+, but if they keep dying and not doing enough damage, eh guess is their fault xD
I still like playing Scout just for those few moments where people do thank you. It feels all the more special that way.
And the icing on the cake is that the better job the scout does, the less he's noticed. If the caves are lit, you've got sh*t tons of nitra, and you aren't getting blind sided by ranged ceiling attacks the whole game, you don't think anything about it. But if the Scout ISN'T covering all his duties correctly you sure AF notice.
