Prolly not great PR to associate your game with anything that was "iconic" of the German military during the periods of WW1 or WW2. (Unless you're doing like a historically accurate game.) I mean, do you think a "Deaths Head SS officer cap" would be a good addition? It's VERY iconic.

Not trying to be a soy boy about it, but I just don't think it would be a good business decision, too much room for controversy. It has the potential to turn into a scandal.

I just looked it up. I never would have associated it with Germany had i not done further research.

I don't see any reason why not. If the reason is "because Germany", as someone who is half German, I'd be way more upset about that than having it in the game in the first place

The only way that the helmet itself would be a problem is if people went out of their way to make it a problem. And if you don't do something because the reeeeee crowd might get fussy, then you've already lost

Add it, don't add it, i really don't care. But not adding it because someone might spiderweb their way to making some comparison to Nazi Germany is not a sound reason imo

I don't personally care for helmets themed around real-world military trends, but I guess I'm not against it either. I mean, in the last batch of hats, they added some obviously Middle-eastern themed hats, including a turban, so if that didn't offend anyone, I think we're fine.

I agree there is nothing wrong with it in the context of a historically accurate game. Same with any iconography they used, I'm not one of those people who wants Swastika's replaced with German flags in my WW2 games. We shouldn't censor history.

Again, I have no personal issue with it, and my only thought upon seeing it in the game would be "damn, that's an ugly hat" however, I don't think it would be a good PR move as I said above. The news can make a scandal about anything if they have a mind to. "DRG devs add infamous spiked Nazi helmet to game" isn't the headline you want to see, and yes I know that headline would be grossly inaccurate, but that's how these things happen. Because most people don't know any of the details, and won't care to look them up, they'll just go with the knee-jerk reaction.

To clarify again, I'm not against it, I'm just making an observation about potential pitfalls. My Grandparents immigrated to America from Germany, I am a fan of world history, including both world wars of course. Heck, I've even read "Mein Kampf." (I'm an avid reader and it's an infamous book, so don't read into that too much. Lol.) I'm not anti-German, I'm not pro censorship, I'm just talking about a cosmetic item and my concern that it might not go ever super well with certain types of people. Especially considering that the helmets are ridiculous and silly looking, I obviously don't think it's a worthwhile endeavor to add one to the game, but it won't hurt my feelings if they do.
