1 turret vs 2 turrets
Which one is the best to pick?
I use the mk2 turret with the defender system, dmg boost is nice but I don't like how it can only shoot in a cone
Is 2 turrets better? Only thing that puts me off is the micro management

More turrets means you can defend 2 areas instead of 1, also more damage if both turrets focus 1 target
2 turrets are better.
1 turret is easier to take care of.
Well what's better, +2 damage or + 14 damage from another turret plus double ammo? How is this even a question lol.
I personally use 2 turrets with Defender. They can shred any bug coming near and thin out the hordes REALLY well.
However, due to their smaller arc, you need to prepare well for the hordes, so make use of those bug repellent platforms to create an arena, miner.
yeah 2 turrets better at the moment, defender in last row for more damage, armor breaking pretty good too since turrets dont aim specifically at weak points. On second row quick deploy is usually better particularly in higher difficulties or if you don't yet have the reflex to call your sentries back every time as soon as you move to relocate.
In time you'll find more options to build them diffrently to take advantage of specific builds, like the "turret whip" in tier 5 for the Warthog shotty.
MK2 is the damage efficiency choice, Gemini is the DPS choice. Since they buffed Gemini with extra ammo, the DPS is worth more than the efficient use of less ammo.

I use Gemini and Defender. Powerful, and you can cover the blind spots with the other sentry.

Both viable. I've been back to Gemini with Defender focused scan angle since U32 came out and that's my personal Meta. I don't use them in different areas. They destroy as a team. Face them about 10-20 meters apart approximately facing each other so most but not the entire arc of their scan angles overlap. Don't refill the turrets immediately after they run out or they will just pick away at far away non-threatening targets and waste all your ammo that way.

Take the quick build mod to get them up and going fast. The ammo you lose is inconsequential because without quick-build you end up not having time to build them in the first place when things go south quickly.

It's funny before the U32 buff to Gemini, it was starting to be considered a "greenbeard" build. Since U32, Gemini is at least as good if not much better than MK2 in most circumstances.

Basically, take one turret for just a consistent softening of the swarms...Gemini can do massive damage and make a substantial impact in the heaviest of swarms...which I think is better because the random trash and miniswarms are usually a pretty easy to handle...why waste turret ammo on them.

I've always used Gemini and I always will.

As an Engineer main myself, I might actually consider Gemini now after thinking about it's potential. Thinking about it now, I rarely pop my turret down so I may as well use it anyway since I'm more concerned about my primary ammo reserves than turrets
Gemini got buffed recently (u32 or 31), which gives it essentially better dps and ammo than MkII when using the defender system
Well the difference in damage-per-shot between the Gemini and MK2 is only 2 damage. Plus taking Gemini gives you more ammo. So overall I'd say Gemini is better. You don't always have to use 2 turrets at once, you can only deploy 1 when necessary and 2 for swarms.

Kinda hope they give MK2 a buff in the next balance patch.
Gemini is better, more area covered (extremely usefull during any "defense" events) but you need to reload more often and you will consume more ammo than Mk2 turret but its not that bad.

i used to have 1 turret but then i switched to 360 angle gemini and its awesome, mainly its great for killing small enemies like jellies or swarmers, 1 turret is too slow
All in all its dps vs management.

Both do about the same total dmg.
Gemini has better dps, but needs more time (so less dps if rushed).
Due to higher rof gemini has better stun and sort of armorbreak, but less dmg means worse chance too.

Mk2 has better range and needs less management.
