If i understand it correctly. You dig and dig and dig and then upgrade your gear to dig faster and better? So basically a digging game , eh?

Not really.
You kill, then you kill, then you mine, then you kill, then you dig for 5s and go back to step1.

It depends. You mostly only dig to change terrain to your tactical advantage against hordes of enemies or digging out precious minerals. Also a little bit of digging to make self a way to climb something.

Or you are playing driller and digging alot to reach a point of interest faster.

At times, running is quicker than drilling.

Idk, I always d r i l l, unless it is in sight, and I reach it quickier than scout.
If I have to walk at very least 45 degrees to the side of that waypoint, I'd rather drill.
Plus its a meme that never gets old.

Even if they have to run up a spiral of tunnel that's 5x the length than a drilled tunnel they only need about 30-60 seconds given the s p e e d of combining grapple (30m per 3 second) and two shots of barrels between the grapple down time can make them fly 100+ meters in 3 second

But yes, drilling to the pod is gr8 when you are not scout

OP, to be clear, digging is not a main focus of the game and is the specialty of one class in particular. Other classes have the ability to dig but it's pretty slow and not useable for much besides mining. You're mostly going to be exploring procedurally generated caves which require only occasional digging.

no, the digging isn't as tedious as that blocky glorified timesink is. a much better comparison would be something like red faction, where all the terrain destruction is done for progression and 90% of the time it's at your own discretion
as you learn how to move around the caves, you'll also come to learn how you can save time or gain tactical advantages through manipulation of terrain
so yes there is digging, but it's not w+m1 crap. some missions you probably wont ever have to raise the pickaxe once

You don't necessarily dig to get upgrades. Terrain is pretty much 100% destructible but the only time it's ever really necessary is to dig is to get through dirt tunnels or grab minerals buried right below the surface (which are marked by glowing bits on the surface).

Otherwise, digging is entirely dependent on the situation and doesn't give you xp or anything.
