It's wrong to connect the two in a way where you use the name of one to refer to the other. It's the same reason why people get annoyed when you call terraria "2d minecraft"; they really aren't enough alike to even make that comparison and it sounds (vaguely) like you're implying one is a rip-off of the other.

I have also played and thoroughly enjoyed both games, and I can say, it seems like you have the narrow mind not being able to see the similarities, of course they aren't carbon copies, terraria is much more combat focused than minecraft is, while caving is way more fun in minecraft than terraria (besides jungle caves in hardmode they are very fun, and also the hardened sand caves I guess) also since the core mechanic OF BOTH ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAMES IS MINING, CRAFTING AND BUILDING, EVEN FIGHTING IS A CORE IN BOTH GAMES, WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THEY ARE IN THE SAME GENRE, SAME CORE MECHANICS, BUT DIFFERENT FILLING, YOU HAVE TO BE AN EMOTIONLESS ASSBURGERS RIDDLED WITH PARKINSONS TO BE SO DELUSIONAL ABOUT THIS (assburgers = Aspergers)
