They tried a warhammer MMORPG back in 2006 - Age Of Reckoning. It didn't go very well unfortunately. Probably why they didnt try a 40k one.

Theres been a lot of wh games coming out past few years though, maybe the license is a bit easier to get nowadays. We'll probably see another attempt sooner or later.

Didn't realize it was a common thing, and yeah sure I completely agree. However is it wrong to make connections between two things you enjoy and use your imagination for possibilities which would make you happy?

It's not wrong to make connections as long as the connections you make are accurate.

I would say that likening DRG to WH40K is pretty inaccurate. The only thing remotely similar between the two is that both are in outer space.

WH40K doesn't even have dwarves other than the "Squats" which are the closest thing to a dwarf in 40K, and they're nothing like the dwarves in DRG.

Aside from that there are no themtic or stylistic and aesthetic similarities between DRG and 40K to the point that the comparison just seems off.

When's the last time you ever saw a squat at a 40K table?

People deny them because GW pretty much forgot about them altogether.

Dwarves are long gone in Warhammer 40K, and the aesthetics of DRG just don't fit in with Warhammer 40K's gothic/victorian spacepunk aesthetics.

I'd say that DRG is more-so inspired by stuff like the Thing, Alien, Starship Troopers, and Murder Miners rather than Warhammer 40K.

And Dwarf Fortress I would say -- Dwarf Fortress is what inspired Minecraft.

Potentially Deep Rock Galactic (the company) could of been a group of Squats from 40k back in the 2nd millenium, back when the galaxy wasn't completely insane, but no I don't think this is related to 40k at all.

It's wrong to connect the two in a way where you use the name of one to refer to the other. It's the same reason why people get annoyed when you call terraria "2d minecraft"; they really aren't enough alike to even make that comparison and it sounds (vaguely) like you're implying one is a rip-off of the other.
who tf but manchildren get triggered at terraria being called 2d minecraft, it literally is 2d minecraft, as minecraft is 3d terraria (with terraria actually having good combat, while minecraft has better redstone/wiring)
also deep rock is minecraft + killing floor 2, not left 4 dead

I do. It's not 2d minecraft. They are different games, and I personally know people who refuse to play because they hear people say it's "just" 2d minecraft.

Did you really have to dig up a thread from 2020?

you see, those people don't deserve to play the game if they're butthurt at mere words. I am sad that the devs aren't getting the money though

Oh, that's a good one, I'm going to steal that

Terraria is not hurting on sales lol. The people who say those things have zero interest in the game to begin with anyway.
