so i was playing refinery mission when mission control said

"we have a company, and its a nice one"

at first i was like, what is this man even mean why are you compliment the bug swarmer
and after awhile i realize it was a pun and i feel stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mission control

Nice one isn't a pun, when it comes to size saying something is nice is the same as saying its big

I am not a native speaker and while its probably not the most common use of that word it still makes sense in a sarcastic/ironic way.

Its like saying, „isnt it nice, isnt it?“.

I think the line was "We have company, and its a nice one" to tell you a swarm is coming... which... just make a lot of sense, translation thing maybe.

Yeah, first time i heard it i thought we were going to get like a free supply drop or something to help. Kinda disappointed it was just more bugs.

The grammar nerd in me is a bit bothered by using singular nouns (it's "a" nice "one") for the word "company", which technically is singular but it doesn't really mesh very well. You don't call it, "a company" for example, just "company".

It would sound smoother if he said, "We've got company, isn't that nice?" with a sarcastic tone.

I don't know how it is in english, but in my own language, "a nice one" in this context is either sarcasm or a plain joke.
It's like back when you were a kid, your mum points at the mess you made and says stuff like "Looks great, eh?! Guess who's cleaning that up!" (And I can totally see mission control saying the same about the abyss bar btw.)

Native speaker; it doesn't make sense. It just doesn't. In the back of my mind I had just assumed it would be changed or removed later.

It could be a double meaning joke saying that we have a company (Deeprock Galactic) and that that company is successful (a nice one,) but it just makes no sense why he would say it here, especially since I assume they're not owners or even stockholders in that company; just wage slave workers.

Ya don't ask, English makes no sense. In this case, it's effectively saying "Nice, Big one" except for some reason dropping the big because English doesn't care. Technically it's incorrect, but it still works if you understand the context.
