Deep Rock Galactic
How to change graphic settings before starting the game
Hi i have a spare potato pc on wich i run the game at the lowest setting but since it defaulted to high res i cannot open the ESC menu from ingame to change the graphic options as the game instantly crashes.
I know it can run on potato settings since i've played it already on the other pc.
Does anybuddy have a hint or a clue? thanks in advance!

I'm not sure whether I've understood this correctly or not, but you should definitely be able to open the options menu while in-game.

I would suggest to verify the integrity of your game files, to uninstall/re-install the game and even to restart steam, if it hasn't been done already.

Yeah, you should be able to.

Just browse to:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Open the file:
GameUserSettings.ini

And I believe you're looking to adjust these settings:
ResolutionSizeX=1280 ResolutionSizeY=720
I just tinkered with it and I was able to manually adjust my resolution.
Lots of other settings you can change here, too :approve:

edit:
You could also delete (or rename) the file to return the relevant settings to default.

ok guys i solved this finally.
I firstly used my gaming pc to use the account i use on the potato pc
changed the options to potato graphics
copied the whole "saved" file from the path "\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved"
Pasted it into the potato pc
???
problem solved

Keep in mind that doing so will copy all the subfolders of "saved" but copying just the "Config" subfolder might do the trick

I'm having this same problem with a fresh install on a new PC. The 3 seconds of space rig I see is beautiful but none of the settings in the WindowsNoEditor folder are helpful. I suspect I need to know a magic variable name / value / incantation to put my shaders down to potato but right now I'm just unable to play D=

I mean, there is a limit to how much lowering the settings in the .ini can do for you.

Your rig may just flat out not be up to it. Specs?

Also, what happens after 3 seconds? The game crashes?

It was freezing. Ended up fixing it by adding "sg.ResolutionQuality=20" under "[ScalabilityGroups]" which sets the Resolution Scale slider down near zero. My rig is definitely garbage (1050Ti with questionably broken drivers) but I can play pretty comfortably with that slider at 40% now that I can actually get in there and set it!

Try running it in Dx11 mode, add -dx11 to the start commands through Steam.
