I never understood this particular point of view, perhaps you could elaborate further as to why you feel this way? Do you assume that if they (Ghost Ship Games) planned on adding dlcs after 'initial release' that it would 'only be' because they intentionally withheld 'adding content outright' so that it could be 'added later on' as dlc content? I don't think that is the case here. I see it more as: "They would create a complete and finished product, and any dlcs later on would just be ideas they came up with 'AFTER' that they thought were so cool that people would want to play with those ideas tacked on as official 'optional' content."
Anyone simply alluding to or discussing any possible expansions (dlcs) for a board game that does not even exist yet (except as a prototype) should not affect your 'personal enjoyment' if the base (original/legacy version) of the game they end up creating is completely playable and entertaining in its own right. They're still in the early stages of development, so we don't have much information to go on right now.
However, knowing how 'Ghost Ship Games' has operated in the past, they don't seem to do things 'half-arsed' and would probably put considerable time and effort into making a quality product before even thinking about adding dlcs. Like I said in my opening paragraph, if any future dlcs are introduced, they would more than likely just be adding optional 'flavor' to the game rather than being mandatory 'must have' content. I've never gotten that 'money grubbing/drain your wallet' feel from these Devs, they don't strike me as 'EA Games' types where they're driven solely by profits. They seem much more interested in creating memorable experiences through the exploration of different mediums which facilitate activities considered an 'enjoyable pass time', whether it be video games or a physical board game.
Just my two cents.
Oof, that's unfortunate. Maybe 'subscribe' to this discussion, and someone might ping the thread again when the Kickstarter launches?
Other than that, I can only suggest watching the News tab for updates.
Hope you sort it out one way or another, and get notified when the KS goes live
That sounds very strange, I'd be curious to know if anyone else is having a similar issue? I'm not sure what would be causing a problem like that. Mine worked fine, but I signed up within the first week it was offered.
