In all honesty I thought its for speeding up the start up... I did this the first dozen hours with the gunners leadstorm aswell.
I'm going to give you that one. I used to do it, but the reload annoys me personally so much I just give a couple quick standard revs now and that does the trick. If it cost me a tiny amount of fuel it's worth it not to have my eyes and ears assaulted for 5 seconds.
not sure about that in specific about gunner i think pressing R and letting you barrel roll lets you "spin faster" up your gun and with it shooting
You can switch off of drills and the sound will end; the animation will continue, but at least you won't have to hear the drills grind against one another.
Just learn to not press R, or swap to another weapon then back to the drills to animation-cancel. What a silly complaint, lol.
It doesn't. Believe me, I was hoping it would when I first tested it too, but it takes the same amount of wind-up to start firing. You just don't see the wind-up because it's already spinning, but it still takes about a second to start firing.
So if the game made a loud ear piercing screech every time you pressed F to throw a flare but were out, you would just "learn not to press F" What a silly suggestion. Learn not make reloading your weapons second nature.
Come to think of it, I would love to see a game where you carry extra ammo in a realistic manner. By which I mean, you don't have a drum with 250 9mm rounds for your pistol from which magazines magically get filled and into which bullets magically get deposited every time you remove a half-full mag from the gun.
*bang*bang* /reload
"Dude, you just threw away a magazine with 13 rounds still in it."
"Well, yeah, I'd fired twice."
