I didnt play as much back then and didnt care much for details when I did play but I remember the lack of reload anims,the shooting range sign and very early versions of the bar n stuff
Although I do agree that what you say makes sense,when I wrote this down I thought of the pre release guns as placeholder models which were going to be replaced by better,higher detail versions that we see now.
I didnt think of it as a lore based change but only a development wise change because it made more sense to me that way

TBH they're just pulling this outta their rear ends to rationalize it don't overthink it too much.
Are the reflections of the old alpha station in certain windows also some space time anomaly or a clever easter egg- too?
