How good is this game for offline single player?
Looking to buy this game and don't have many friends who play it, is there a solid offline single player experience?

Single player is decent.

Why not join public games and make some friends?

Can you play single player offline? Yes.

Do people play single player and enjoy themselves? Yes.

Is the game primarily co-op focused, at it's best when played with a team, and does most of the development go towards the co-op aspect? Yes.

Solo is actually pretty fun.
You wouldn't EXPECT it to be fun, right?
..But it's pretty damned fun!

Make sure to spend points upgrading your flying buddy.

Most of my ~800h of playtime is solo. Can recommend.

Single player is meh. Spent like 2 hours there.

Spent 300+ hours with random people in pick-up games online. It's great and nearly everybody you meet are decent. I can think of only 2 bad experiences in 300 hours, and one of those was due to me disliking the host on a personal basis despite him being a good teamplayer.

I can understand your desire to play solo alone, perhaps you are an introvert gamer like me. However for this game it is really recommended to do Co-op. Most of the time i don't even talk to the other guys, as most know their role pretty well. So give Co-Op a try, pretend it's Solo with some bots ;)

this is a coop game first, so no

single player is an option, but not a good one. you'll have a much better time in coop
trust me, %90 of my playtime has been with randoms, its worked out ok except for a couple of fringe cases

the game is not balanced around solo play, so you'll find theres a lot of annoyances or design inconsistencies if all you do is solo. i cant recommend it if you plan on playing solo only

Agree, I have enjoyed this game solo, with random people and friends.

Pretty well balanced around solo play.

You can definitely play and enjoy the game solo.

I almost exclusively play DRG for multiplayer with randoms. It's great. I've tried solo, and I hate it. I would never recommend it to anyone who wants to solo only.

solo is fun, you really get a feeling of isolation and the sense that screwing up can happen very easily with no going back.

I only play solo (because of my bad internet) and its still really fun

Now and then I'll kill a few hours by playing this Solo with an audiobook, podcast, or game dungeon going on in the background.

It's a good "relax & play" kind of game, with just enough shooting/action to keep you alert, but not in a tense/frustrating way.

Have fun :)

100 hours all mostly being solo, good game, both coop and singleplayer wise. maybe only 5-10% of the games I' had with randoms, had a few bad experiences so decided to solo most of the game because of it, promoted two dwarfs and going for the third as writing this

I don't play much solo and I don't prefer it, but when having connection issues (my isp sucks and I live in a literal desert) I can play solo and get my weekly assignments done or whatever. And it's fine, still fun enough. You have a lot of control over the difficulty and what type of mission you want to run. And BOSCO is awesome.
