Why not join public games and make some friends?
Do people play single player and enjoy themselves? Yes.
Is the game primarily co-op focused, at it's best when played with a team, and does most of the development go towards the co-op aspect? Yes.
You wouldn't EXPECT it to be fun, right?
..But it's pretty damned fun!
Make sure to spend points upgrading your flying buddy.
Spent 300+ hours with random people in pick-up games online. It's great and nearly everybody you meet are decent. I can think of only 2 bad experiences in 300 hours, and one of those was due to me disliking the host on a personal basis despite him being a good teamplayer.
single player is an option, but not a good one. you'll have a much better time in coop
trust me, %90 of my playtime has been with randoms, its worked out ok except for a couple of fringe cases
the game is not balanced around solo play, so you'll find theres a lot of annoyances or design inconsistencies if all you do is solo. i cant recommend it if you plan on playing solo only
You can definitely play and enjoy the game solo.
It's a good "relax & play" kind of game, with just enough shooting/action to keep you alert, but not in a tense/frustrating way.
Have fun :)
