burning hell - what does it actually do?
its an overclock for the minigun which adds the "burning hell" effect. the blurb doesnt explain much either:
"Turn the area just infront of the minigun into an even worse place by venting all the combustion gasses forward. However, it does overheat rather quickly."

ive been trying a lot of fire-based mods for the gunner recently, but im not really sure what this one does. i assumed you could use it in conjunction with aggressive venting to fire the critical overheat explosion forwards in a cone shape, but that doesnt seem to happen

it seems like all it does it raise the heat on enemies when i shoot at them; but i thought that's what the hot bullets mod was for? so can someone explain what this overclock actually does?

It covers a short area just in front of the barrels with heat while you fire. It is similar to hot bullets, but the heat output is much more intense.

Here's a recent video I done featuring Burning Hell. This should give you a good idea of how to use it.

i run a burning hell build with aggressive venting; gives you a strong counter to swarmers and jellies; lets you ignite gas clouds and burn webs, and is more selective than hot bullets. So if something is frozen and you dont want to thaw it, you just dont get close.
I take off penetration and take 2 second stagger for my BH build
It's a little tricky to learn but if you like playing with distance and timing it can go far.

I actually like stacking it on hot bullets and with volatile bullets OC on the bulldog.

Might need that cooling T1 mod though so you can put out bullets of necessary. Burst firing is way better now.

I really like it, you can kill all kind of glyphids while melting swarmers and jelly without ammo and aiming.

thanks for the responses fellas

ive been running an "all fire" build for gunner - aggressive venting, burning hell, volatile bullets bulldog and the fire bomb for good measure. its a completely goofy build but fun as hell to use

my only complaint is that it doesnt seem to leave stuff on fire for very long; my gameplan is to ignite enemies then finish them off with the volatile bulldog but it seems like they cool off quickly

Are you trying to light Bulks,Dreadnoughts or Oppressor's on fire? There's no point to doing that because they cool off too fast even if you do get them frozen with the Scout's freeze grenades you'll have all but 0.5 seconds to deal damage before they thaw themselves out.

yeah i know, it just means ill need to make some tweaks to my playstyle

i avoided burning hell/aggressive venting for a while because i dont like the idea of rewarding players for letting the gun overheat, but after 400 hours of this game id quite like to try something new lmao

Keep in mind that the heat guage goes higher than the burning status shown as the maximum. You can 'overheat' a target once it's already burning to make the burning duration last for just a wee bit longer.

You do need to position properly for a volatile combo though. Ignite enemies from a position where you can pull out the revolver/subata and immediately fire at thier weakpoint to take advantage of the bonus.

Oppressors are difficult to combo against but you can get a shot out.

If you team with a flame driller you can destroy oppressor while the driller keeps it burning.

Burning Hell has become my favorite OC for the Minigun. I already liked it as part of a semi-joke loadout before, but ever since the buff it got and the addition of the revolver's Volatile Bullets OC, it's practically become my go-to for Gunner.

I use Hot Bullets as my T5 mod since I'm too careful in my heat management, so Cold as the Grave is unnecessary and Aggressive Venting just doesn't trigger fast enough when I'm trying to make use of it.

With Burning Hell, you can practically ignore swarmers and naedocytes as long as they're in front of you as you shoot other things. The cone of fire is pretty generous.

You generate so much heat (and lead), the common trash just melts in a flash, and larger targets quickly get set on fire because being introduced to what is essentially Elephant Rounds Mk.II.
