ranking up (blue number) why is it so slow?

started playing this with my brother, we mainly play at the same time and he completed a mission i also complete yet shot up like 1 or 2 ranks while i have to do at least 8 or 9 matches to rank up once. im rank 9 and he is now rank 19. ive done 3 missions at rank 9 and still not one blue bar towards the three to need to hit the next rank. am i doing something wrong in which i gain more as far as ranking up goes? i play just as much as he yet im 10 ranks behind him. im confused on this.

You get one blue level for every three levels. If he's been switching classes and you haven't then he'll be leveling faster than you since low levels go quicker than high ones.
Also if you're at the level cap for a class then you won't gain any levels until you promote or switch class.

Go into mission terminal with server list. There you will see some missions with additional symbols: yellow symbols are positive mutators and red - negative. You search for yellow "XP" symbol.
