Anyone using PGL over BC?

I'm starting to level up my engy and I really like how the PGL plays. However I haven't seen any engy that was using PGL when he had unlocked the BC. I've gathered the BC is OP against large mobs and can annihilate hordes too even through walls. Is there anything the PGL does better that would justify bringing it on haz5+ ?

Depends on the mission. In areas with large flat surfaces, BC. Or in tunnels, pick up the upgrades for taller swath. In areas with lots of random terrain, PGL

PG just has more versatility in its aoe, it doesnt need a level field so it can hit enemies from further away on ceilings and walls in a wider aoe. Honestly most people waste PGL shooting broods and oppressors all day, its always been better than people have treated it.

BC is too powerful right now. Before it had limited uses with specific builds. Now basically no matter what you take it is too good. It needs to be toned down slightly, but not too much. Because of the way it applies its damage its really tricky to get just right. I used the breach cutter a lot before the buffs but now it just feels like cheating.

Grenade Launcher is still an amazing weapon.

You've been playing with a Lot of niche Engies then-
the majority of us use the Grenade Launcher - IMO out of the 16 weapons in DRG the Breech Cutter is the only one I never use - I seldom use the Cryo Cannon or EPC, but they can be fun and useful in many situations

The Breech Cutter is just Hard to use, hard to aim, and has terrible ammo consumption
The Grenade Launcher can be used in a variety of ways, and modded out a few different ways as well (including the Fat Boy OC- which I have, but dislike)

The BC seems to be good at big targets (but any weapon can wittle them down) - and the argument that it can kill big swarms of Grunts- "if" it's an area that's mostly flat- "if" there aren't rocks, stalagmites and such in the way- "if" the Grunts are in the right place
That's too many "ifs" for me, and you know what- GL does just as well blasting Large groups, and that's without using Plasma Grenades or Proximity Mines

All that being said- as I've stated in many other posts- The Breech Cutter is simply "not for me" - to those who have put in the time to be good with it, they are amazing, and good teammates to have- plus It would be nice to use the BC- It Looks Cool, I have nice skins for it, and it has a nice reload animation- It just plain Sucks when I use it though

I regularly use 12/16 weapons otherwise- dislike the EPC and Engie SMG (but they're good)- dislike the Cryo Cannon (just an aversion for Ice-based weapons in any game)- and can barely damage anything with the hard-to-aim-and-fire BC - you can hit big targets and pop them easy, but for me that's about it- and my GL does it easier and is much more fun

PGL is still fine.
A fireshot still kills anything up to slasher level and its way easier to use in uneven terrain.
It also got way better range.

no but seriously, i think the reason the reason the breach appeals to more players is because its far more forgiving on an ammo front. even at base level, the breach has 16 shots while the pgl only has 9

i always felt the pgl was too restrictive ammo wise, and it puts way too much strain on the engie's primaries to be used for the majority of the mission. its likely why the warthog has so much ammo in reserve

I mean, the breadcutter is alright, it works for your average split top white loaf. Wheat is just too thick for it though.
