Don't doubt this chance exists though. Just seems nearly impossible.
I agree on a different sound though! The beeping intervall is slower and the initial sound a bit lower. All in all to similar! During combat it's hard to distinguish between those sounds.
It also feels like a placeholder for something else.
Static sound or radio chatter seems to be a great idea for a replacement!!!
I'm okay with the beeping only being a placeholder for a different sound in the future, but I'm not a fan of static or radio chatter as a substitute.
I haven't personally found it hard to distinguish between the two, even during combat. But regardless, I don't think it would be necessary to distinguish between them during combat, so long as you can simply identify that they are there. Once the fighting is over, that's when you return to investigate, gather the batteries, or activate the helm.
It's very unlikely that anybody here will be able to answer that question for you.
You might be able to get a dev response on their official Discord, or maybe on the DRG subreddit, but it's not very common for devs to pop in on General Discussion threads on these forums.
We've been in a situation were we faintly heard the signal, but had trouble finding it again. The swarm and a bulk had us to move quickly. Of course, in the end we found it again.
Sure, I agree: it isn't necessary to distinguish between those signals during combat, or even at all! When we hear the bleeping sound we approach it.
I just think it would be a nice idea to change that sound because of the similarity to the battery sound. From afar it's hard to distinguish the sound cue instantly. Yes, no necessity, but it would be nice to have a unique sound cue. I like instantly identified sound cues :)!
A mere luxurity but a possibility to implement something more fitting. If it stays the way it is, so be it.
