what i do believe is that the fire conversion damage actual does make you deal 50% of your damage as dps (which is kinda useless tbh) burst is better for weapons with low ammo counts per magazine
Full AOE size build + Fire + Prox trigger = A lot of dead bugs.
No accounting for taste though.
I wish I could see piles of dead bugs like Chibbity, but every time I have tried, it has felt worse than not equipping a mod in that slot at all. Make them glow with fire for one or two seconds and leaves them severely damaged? I want things to die when I pull the trigger so I spec for whatever kills medium-sized enemies.
...he does run stun on his turrets though, maybe that makes a difference.
I'm just defending it's usability. Playing on Haz4-5 and it tends to deal with any spawn pack I point it at. Grenade takes most of the life off, and the DOT finishes them. I tend to focus on packs emerging from the ceilings/walls, as Prox trigger makes that a good use case.
Is it the "best" way to spec your GL? Prolly not. Personally I just like debuffs, and incendiary grenades in any game. It works fine, get's the job done; I'm happy with it, is all I'm saying.
