Deep Rock Galactic
Engineer Incendiary Compound
Has anyone been able to make good use of the Deepcore 40mm PGL Incendiary Compound? I used it a few times and it feels pretty lackluster compared to pressure wave. The explosion kills little guys so there isn't much use in lighting them on fire, and its better to have the impact damage on larger bugs it seems. I feel like it'd be a lot better of an upgrade if it simply lit the floor on fire and applied burns to enemies walking through.

unfortunately, the way stats of weapons are represented in this game are severely uhhh.... underwhelming. we don't even have a proper way to check the dps of fire-lit enemies. personally, i go with mods that give actual numbers (some don't, and those are still clear cut good)

what i do believe is that the fire conversion damage actual does make you deal 50% of your damage as dps (which is kinda useless tbh) burst is better for weapons with low ammo counts per magazine

I love it myself, most people don't though. (It actually converts 50% of your damage to "heat", not directly to fire damage over time, so there isn't any real way to know how much that is, besides just going off of feel. We don't have a whole lot of info on how "heat" mechanics work.)

Full AOE size build + Fire + Prox trigger = A lot of dead bugs.

No accounting for taste though.

My opinion is that its total crap. The worst upgrade.

I wish I could see piles of dead bugs like Chibbity, but every time I have tried, it has felt worse than not equipping a mod in that slot at all. Make them glow with fire for one or two seconds and leaves them severely damaged? I want things to die when I pull the trigger so I spec for whatever kills medium-sized enemies.

...he does run stun on his turrets though, maybe that makes a difference.

To clarify, I'm not saying it's OP or anything lol.

I'm just defending it's usability. Playing on Haz4-5 and it tends to deal with any spawn pack I point it at. Grenade takes most of the life off, and the DOT finishes them. I tend to focus on packs emerging from the ceilings/walls, as Prox trigger makes that a good use case.

Is it the "best" way to spec your GL? Prolly not. Personally I just like debuffs, and incendiary grenades in any game. It works fine, get's the job done; I'm happy with it, is all I'm saying.

No, its cool Chibbity can make use of it. I tried incendiary and the prox trigger and it turns out Im just more into running into the group (well they just surround me cuz they can) and pointing at the ground and shooting, blowing myself and everything else up. The prox trigger really messed with that plan though because it bounces. XD
