I could see an elf selling cosmetic items. Not willing to get his hands directly dirty, but enough of a madlad to hold down (if not acclimate to) a few rounds of Oily Oaf and wear a fake beard to try and look "presentable" for the clientele.

That includes anyone who makes any one hobby or interest the focal point of their life. Using video games or any other hobby as an escape from reality is fine, but losing your entire identity as a person to any one thing is a dangerous road to trod down, and it generally speaks of a person who is not well adjusted or emotionally healthy.
So do I hate people who are interested in furry art or costumes or message boards or whatever? No. Do I have a mild distrust of people who dress up in a costume 24/7 and never come out of character? Absolutely.
Do they even work?
