Guys thanks for your responses, you helped me clear my question up. Rock and Stone brothers!!
The fact that you made the post and CARE about what makes a good Scout means you're a good DRG player

pre or post update 28 doesn't matter - what bothers a Lot of people are newer players who run about, ahead of the team, getting KOd all the time, making the tiniest of holes in Loose Dirt not considering the team needs to get through, seldom getting minerals or secondaries, Ignoring Engie Platforms, and the big one- Not using the Flare Gun

Those are all the qualities of "Bad" Scouts

Those that question and want to be better teammates, go high for the minerals and Loot, do a good job at being the side-angling/support fire/sniping role, recon ahead but stay with the team, revive hard to reach teammates, and just plain stay alive to survive, revive, and keep a team going are "Quality" Scouts

The whole point of playing scout class is terrain poses the least threat to you. Now it's a threat, so scout is less fun to play. They did this because it's un-fun to player others and didn't want everyone playing scout. Instead scout has to suffer for the sake of bad design so others can feel their mediocre roles are justified.

I love Scout and play it the most by far. What does frustrate me is when I light up a room for the engineer to place platforms and instead he goes to mine a mineral vein right near the ground without placing any. I put those lights up for a reason bro.

Your feelings don't count as facts.
The other classes are plenty fun (though I personally don't take a shine to the Gunner). Sorry to hear you can't enjoy the game but it's certainly not balanced specifically toward/against anyone, especially people who hate 3 out of the 4 classes.
Are you lost? Feb 3, 2020 @ 7:30am
It just that the scouts complain about every change after an update.

Yeah, I know this feeling. On the other side of this is when you're sitting around as engi because everything else is taken care of and the scout isn't putting up light for you or is mining ground veins.
People don’t realize the value of finishing the mission’s objectives quickly, which is why they believe more gun is better.

If i have to choose between doing the objectives a bit quicker but fail in combat or slowly do the objectives but beeing able to kill a swarm myself i'll always go for dakka.
Too many teams can't handle themself. But then again too many scouts just suck.

Change usually ruffles people's feathers. Even if there if there is some sound reasoning it's usually because they don't like it.

Hard and fast is the way to go.

Teams without scouts typically sit there pinging nitro that nobody can get to.

I often play with randoms, so you can choose one.
Either your scout sucks or your firepower sucks.

You can survive better with firepower than speed.

I didn't say I can't enjoy the game. Don't be a garbage person and misquote others.

Also there is no spotter in the game there is a scout. Stop forcing your lame meme.

Also spotter is not a combat class and will help the team the most by quickly completing the objectives rather than trying to fight all the bugs.

Everyone is a combat class. Some more so than others. The failure is simply some people don't know how to play to their strengths. A scout is not DPS focused, but you can get a lot of millage kiting and sniping.

I personally make it a point to rotate my classes out so I have a fresh feel on how each one plays. Though often I find myself having to self-reprimand when I go from Scout to Driller. Hitting '3' on reflex after playing scout for a few hours when acting a driller results in some funny 'almost' suicides.

Or just dig to it nearly as quickly as the scout can, if their driller is worth a pint of lukewarm piss. Or just make MORE platforms than one and climb to it.

Scouts are extremely useful, but this "only scouts can miiiiine!" notion is as incorrect as the "scouts cannot fight!" misconception. Use the tools your class grants you and you can get pretty much anywhere without having to rely on the grapplez EZ-mode.

I feel that the main point of the scout is keeping caves lit. If this was an RPG, that alone should give you about +50% damage to the entire team. Fast mining is a side bonus.
