pre or post update 28 doesn't matter - what bothers a Lot of people are newer players who run about, ahead of the team, getting KOd all the time, making the tiniest of holes in Loose Dirt not considering the team needs to get through, seldom getting minerals or secondaries, Ignoring Engie Platforms, and the big one- Not using the Flare Gun
Those are all the qualities of "Bad" Scouts
Those that question and want to be better teammates, go high for the minerals and Loot, do a good job at being the side-angling/support fire/sniping role, recon ahead but stay with the team, revive hard to reach teammates, and just plain stay alive to survive, revive, and keep a team going are "Quality" Scouts
Rock and Stone Dribblebeard
The other classes are plenty fun (though I personally don't take a shine to the Gunner). Sorry to hear you can't enjoy the game but it's certainly not balanced specifically toward/against anyone, especially people who hate 3 out of the 4 classes.
Too many teams can't handle themself. But then again too many scouts just suck.
Teams without scouts typically sit there pinging nitro that nobody can get to.
Either your scout sucks or your firepower sucks.
You can survive better with firepower than speed.
I didn't say I can't enjoy the game. Don't be a garbage person and misquote others.
Everyone is a combat class. Some more so than others. The failure is simply some people don't know how to play to their strengths. A scout is not DPS focused, but you can get a lot of millage kiting and sniping.
I personally make it a point to rotate my classes out so I have a fresh feel on how each one plays. Though often I find myself having to self-reprimand when I go from Scout to Driller. Hitting '3' on reflex after playing scout for a few hours when acting a driller results in some funny 'almost' suicides.
Scouts are extremely useful, but this "only scouts can miiiiine!" notion is as incorrect as the "scouts cannot fight!" misconception. Use the tools your class grants you and you can get pretty much anywhere without having to rely on the grapplez EZ-mode.
I feel that the main point of the scout is keeping caves lit. If this was an RPG, that alone should give you about +50% damage to the entire team. Fast mining is a side bonus.
