OK, so how do you do the Modular Exterminator Machine Event?
Vet Player- have beaten 3 Ebonite and 1 Kursite event, all Solo- haven't come across a Trillyte Crystal one yet

Just came across the newer Modular Exterminator event- also Solo
In another Post I explained how the actual concept and Logic was goofy with these
But in practicality- I see the big central area, and 3 smaller nodes
was Solo Driller, had a good spot, even dropped a pre-event supply drop
planted 2 C4 Satchels on the outer nodes, thinking those are the targets
upon activation- everything just seemed Invulnerable- thought the nodes were the targets- Zero Damage Effect- attacked the tower with the guns- still seemed Like Zero Effect - in the end It did show very minor damage to the "Radial Pulse Gun" but I'm not even sure how I did that
After I was KOd once, I Luckily had a tunnel nearby to just hide in at wait for the Time Counter to expire

WTF am I suppossed to be doing on this Machine Event? got that I activate the 4 nodes, but after that nothing seemed to work or be damaged

There are some floor pads that you need to stand on for a bit in order to expose the weak points for a duration (should you move off the pad).

I Love the DRG Devs- probably the best I've encountered- but this Event seems poorly designed

First off, reading the Initial Description- my thought was "Why not try to disable the Lethal Weaponry BEFORE you activate it" - but ok, I'm over thinking things- they had to design a mode of gameplay after all

But when I finally came across this thing- a Tower with Lasers and Guns, some kind of purple energy beam that slices you- I again used my Brain- hit it from distance- take it out relatively safely

Now with the Info you gave me phenir- I apparently have to be IN THE ZONE OF FIRE to be able to open the vulnerable spots? Seems really stupid

Again, from a Logical perspective- I turn the key, the tower is sitting there- dormant until I hit the 4 nodes to activate it- as a DWARF, why would I not try to use tools to pry that sucker open and dismantle it instead of flipping a switch and blindly fighting it?

There are 3 nodes as well- can possibly see this as a team event- should I even attempt this ever again Solo? Doesn't seem worth it at this point

Seems you are overreacting due to not knowing how to deal with the new Machine Event (which is described in the patch notes rather quite clearly).

Playing solo would somewhat lessen the difficulty of the event and having Bosco always helps. Killing one part of the machine will make things easier so I wouldn't avoid doing it again as clearly you didn't know what you were doing beforehand.

I had a team where 3 of us died and the scout was shooting at the tower dealing zero damage due to lack of knowledge. I kept asking the scout to revive me as there was just 1 more modular that had to be destroyed but he completely ignored all of us and just ran around. I was not impressed.

Gameplay over logic I guess. Or maybe the equipment needed to open them up is too large to carry down there so they just send expendables to dismantle it the hard way.

I ran into one solo driller too, thank god I didn't get swarmed much or else I'd have ended my run on it. Flamethrower's beyond useless against it. If you can just separate your brain into two sections of dodging the projectiles and shooting the green lights it's pretty easy. Very exciting learning it under pressure that's kind of what I like about the machine events is the trial by fire aspect of them.

OK- thanks for all the Info everyone

I do use the Flamethrower, believe that might have been the time I accidentally damaged the tower- good info to hear it's not effective

Will probably just not do it unless I have a team- can see a 3 Dwarf team on all platforms killing it, and a 4 Dwarf team with a roamer wider out- Scout or Gunner probably, tagging it well

Solo I could probably do it as Gunner- Mini or AC, Shield or no Shield
Do Engie's Proximity Mines work on it? I could see that doing well- but possibly splash damage hitting you also- same with the GL (I can always Full-Auto Shotgun though)

Prox grenades don't work on it as far as I can tell, but platforms work pretty well for blocking it's fire, just put a tower of plats in front of each pad to block some of the attacks.

It can be a pretty tricky encounter until you learn it, I've seen a lot of teams wipe in like 10 seconds flat their first time, I know I did.

Also, I would recommend prioritizing the "purple wave bullet hell" thing first if you can, it hits really hard.

Platform Blockage- excellent tip

Engineer Ingenuity right there

I found it fairly easy to avoid damage from it. Just stay out of the search light of the machine gun, it will kill you very fast. Didn't notice the spotlight at first and it was the only thing that hit me. Is it possible for the radial pulse gun to be higher than lowest level? Either way I'd agree to take that one out first and then the lasers and then the machine gun.
