I personally just keep forgetting to use it
I constantly switch between classes, so this might happen to me once in a while.

My trick is to remember: Blue flares should NEVER be spammed. If your flare is blue, you are a scout. Remember to use the flare gun.
Lol yeah, I rarely use scout so when I do I forget to use flares, and when I do use them I put out like three in one cavern so it's like like daylight

You can tell if someone mains scout or "just to fill in" if they shoot a flare first thing out the drop pod only foregoing this rule for a few seconds if it's physically impossible due to several spitballers shooting right at the entrance like some weeks on EDDs
First room kind of feels like a waste unless it's a more open egg hunt, then it makes sense. otherwise no need to.
I guess that separates the scouts even further lol
Wholeheartedly disagree here. Shooting 1-2 flares in the start room of pretty much any run allows your teammates to see the nitra deposits, of which there is usually 1-2 of, high up in the roof of the starting cave. This is extremely useful for the team as a whole.

Try noticing when you join an ongoing mission that has just left the first cave as a scout - they very commonly left minerals behind, even with engineers and drillers who could have platformed/drilled to them. With no lights, they do not see them.

This. Also happens a lot when late-joining as a scout in extermination and egg hunt where you might go back at some point.

One single lump of nitra is worth roughly 1/4 to 1/2 a supply pod. It's not just spending, it's an investment.

You got more light up time with more ammo if you do both perks for longer duration of the flare you got 12x105=1260 if you instead go 15x90 or 18x75 you get 1350. The big question tho is if you get 7 or 8 ammo back when resupplying with the 15 ammo pack. If you get 7 back then 18x75 loadout is best if you want to increse you daylight time.
But it's a small difference so I guess it's preference choice.
And more importantly, having more flares means better granularity. You can put another flare here, or elsewhere if you are done already. With longer flares if you move on faster than usual, then part of oyur flare time has been wasted. The trade off is you have to spend more time shooting flares, but I doubt it's important unless you are in the middle of a wave.

I can see the use here, but in my experience people have no trouble finding those minerals. They'll immediately throw out enough normal flares to light up the room anyways and get on mining right away. That said, I think I've had a single mission in the entirety of my playtime where I ran low on flares. Not ran out, just ran low, and I like to think I use scout flares pretty liberally, so why not.

Unless someone is running Strong Arm for some reason, most ceilings are not reachable with normal flares.

Also my choice is longer burn so I can spend less time flaring and finding good spots and more time digging everything out and shooting priority targets after a fire and forget flare that I know will last a long while.
Most missions don't have a lot of big caves and using the flare gun in tunnels is redundant so I don't really run out.

1) Y necro?

2) I light EVERYTHING up, if I was able, I'd shoot one flar up that overextending gunners butt.

The worst is having to remind scouts to light things up multiple times. I get it, sometimes we all forget, specially if we haven't played scout recently. Seriously tho, once yer reminded don't just throw up one flare and then forget you have them. Now that's a bad scout.

i found something even more infuriating is when youre a stranger scout that join a group and the engi just follow his friends like a lost puppy without popping a single platform for you when you ping for minerals.

There are other classes than scout? I refuse to believe this.
I'll try another class one day...Maybe.

Why gunners are afraid to use ziplines?
You've got tons of ammo, your job is to zipline across big caves, use it ffs

Why drillers are afraid to use drillers?
You've got tons of ammo, your job is to dig through big caves, use it ffs

I like to joke how Scout is a dumb class for dumb players like myself and often has the biggest potatoes but in all seroiusness this is my personal experience, clueless engies are the worst, I depend on them to have my godlike utility and they just blueball me.
At least I'm learning creative ways to dig holes mid-flight...
DeMasked 2020 年 6 月 6 日 下午 4:24
Start of each match I use 1-2 flares in the starting room when playing as Scout.

Flares are extremely useful not only for revealing a large room but also during a fight where you want to be able to see incoming spawns.

Scouts and Engineers not using their utility tools can indeed be rather frustrating to deal with. Gunner and Driller aren't as annoying imo if they kinda forget about Zipline and Drills.
Urazz 2020 年 6 月 6 日 下午 6:18
When I first started, I was a big stingy about using flares, I use them more often now but I generally only use one per moderate sized areas while on the move. I generally will only use more for events, swarms, and very big rooms and that is when I up the amount of flares up to 2 to 3.

You can't be too liberal with the flares or else you'll run out of them when you really need them unless you know a resupply pod is going to be called soon.
