Basically, if there's two genders, then players should eventually be able to have the option of playing either one. That being said, it's possible that they are already in the game and we just can't tell them apart ;)
The devs may need to tread carefully here. If they make it so that female characters can only play one class, the Buzzfeed mob will have a field day. They get triggered very easily, even if it's just a silly game about space dwarves.
Best move would be to simply make all classes available to both genders. Plus they are dwarves ... the character models can be virtually the same but with a lighter voice and different cosmetic customization options.
By Karl I REALLY hope they don't do that. Besides the horrible stereotype of Lady=Healer; I does this game really need a Medic?
Her full name was "Karla", by the way.
Devs said Hazard 5 is no new difficulty level, it's when you play Hazard 4 with a female dwarf.
I think you'd be an odd fella to answer 'yes'.
Whatever small boost in immersion this might yield is totally not worth the dev time they could instead spend on more important features.
Also they don't have to change too much. Armor could stay the same, I can easily see that the armor would fit a female dwarv without the nonsense of implementing some female dwarven features. I mean, heck a normal medieval armor could easily fit a human woman, and the armor in DRG is bulky enough without the need to change much.
They only need one new face. I hope they get all the bear choices and some more! Where are the fine or even thick dwarven braided beards? What better time to implement them along female characters?
I am against tying a female character to a new class. But than again I don't see the need for a fifth class anyway. The 4 are all we need. What could a 5th class bring in term of a mobility gadget for example? Without beind redundant. And a medic class is bad in my opinion because this will either trivialize lower difficulties or be mandatory on higher difficulties and we only have 4 player slots. The game should be balanced around the four classes. If you want a healer you could add upgrades to grenades to either heal or do damage. For example for the scout class. So he/she has to make a choice which to bring on the mission.
