- Perk system is account wide and gives additional bonuses for just regular play. The more you play, the more you unlock here.
- Materials are spread out in different zones, and each character classes needs a variety of materials. So you'll never run into a situation where certain zones are completely ignored as they are all necessary. And all the zones are very unique and have their own unique challenges.
In other words, there's a good deal and wide variety of grind. More importantly, due to both the cave variety and the randomized cave generation, you'll need get to the point of bored routine where you do the same thing over and over and get numb. This is a common problem in most games, but rarely here. Each cave is different on each drop and you have to approach them differently.
There's a good deal of replayability, basically.
And most important: This game is FUN. Seriously. The devs went nuts on the theme and you're constantly stressed and amused at the same time.

Oh snap - last question: Matchmaking??
Think about it like a L4D with badass dwarfes in space.
Right now we have 4 different classes, each with unique and useful tools and weapons.
Lots of cosmetics.
Community it's big enough i guess, people will join your game an you will found open games easily.
I find it enjoyable, best played with friends, i rarely manage to spend more than a couple of hours straight on it, but i keep playing it and it's still fun.
Devs are still of course very active (as with an EA game SHOULD be) and the roadmap ahead is quite juicy.
It's definitely worth a try, refund is a thing since quite a while, anyway.
When you go the mission board, you can take a look at all active public missions, what zones they are in, their difficulty levels, and the mission types (there's a half dozen or so types) It even tells you what classes are already in the mission and you can pick accordingly, although you're not restricted in any way. It's just that players appreciate when you bring something that hasn't already been picked yet due to the additional utility you bring.
Or you can host your own public mission and others can then choose to join you if they like what you're doing.
Or you can host a private mission that's invite only for your friends.
Or you can go Solo and team up with a flying robot buddy called Bosco who can assist in mining and shooting.
So perhaps you won't be bored of it. :-)
It bleeds atmosphere: The lobby, which is a space rig; the drilling down in the drop pod; the lighting effects and the caves on their own; the music when a swarm hits; the banter; a bar for drinking; different biomes.
But it is no looter shooter. You go on missions, no open world or anything like this. Missions last from 20 to 50 minutes, perhaps longer. Every mission cave layout is randomly created every time.
Gunplay is really good. It is not realistic, there are no iron sights or leaning. But it feels satisfying. The guns have kick and the hit feedback is great. Also you shoot away their armor and you actually see this on the enemy models and have to aim for the weak spots. ALso freezing enemies or setting them on fire.
(And I got Destiny for free.)

DRG is all about Experience In game, and the grind fives some perks that make you a little better at most things.
Destiny, TMK, skills/perks are critical to mission success.
Biggest disappointment I've ever played bar none.
How did the makers of Halo miss the mark so badly? I can only assume all the real talent left long ago and it's an office full of interns.
