if you wants to slaughter everything at once, get huge numbers of kills, and are fighting groups of enemies, go AOE
If you're doing Dreadnaughts or want all the kills all the time, go damage and armour breaking.
Really? But the Thunderhead is so good on ammo already, don't think I've ever run out even on Haz 4.
you can build for more damage, more shrapnel/AOE, or a mix of both - I personally just went damage, so I can pinpoint shots better, and unload and cover my team with out Fragging them accidentally
the ONE key upgrade is slot 4- Penetrating Rounds- Armor Break +300% - once you have this the Autocannon just plain shreds everything- Praetorians are a breeze, and with Mactera It's Like they're getting hit by an AA Gun
I also highly recommend the slot 5 Supressive Fire/Fear mechanism- Praetorians and swarms of Grunts will flee once you pound them - I now actively wade Forward Into groups of 2-4 Praetorians- they're afraid of ME now
the other two slot 5 upgrades seem good too, but I find Fear really useful, and the other two upgrades activate "at full rate of fire" - what I like about the Autocannon Is you can single shot, do a short burst of 3-5, or really go full out when needed
my actual build is this ---
1- A- Increased Caliber Rounds- Damage
2- B- Improved Gas System- ROF
3- C- High Velocity Rounds- Damage
4- A- Penetrating Rounds- Armor Break
5- B- Suppressive Fire- Fear
which reading It, Tech-wise, means I use Increased Caliber, High Velocity, Penetrating Shells - which is freakin' crazy and awesome - Dang Good Dwarven Weaponry we have at DRG
It's not that this form of crowd control is useless but when I am alone and need it I just use grenades, shields or some zipline shenanigans. The fear effect would be a lot more useful to me if it had an off switch.
Yeah but you get the same effect by shooting their backplate off and then sidestepping their vomit animation up some milde elevation. The cannon doesn't really screw around brute forcing their face either.
It's a pro but one I can fully live without.
This is my setup and I LOVE IT. You cleave right through enemies.
