Mission selection in MP ?
Help,
I cannot select any mission when joining friends game

I agree with OP, no reason not to allow non-hosts to select the mission.
I ran into the exact same situation as he did multiple times, it always was an annoyance and all my friends were also wondering why it wasn't possible.

Most others games allow non-hosts to select the next map, no reason not to do it in this game, it's such a great QoL feature. If host has to afk for a sec, he comes back to everything being ready, everyone is happy. Pod won't start until the host is ready and it's not really possible to troll with this feature since he also got full kicking powers.

If something requires mic or typing communication in a game where it's absolutely not needed otherwise, it means there's still improvement to be done.

That is because you joined your friend's game. He is the host, hence HE needs to pick the mission.

Want to pick yourself? Host the game yourself.

It's only the host, the server's owner, that can select (and start) a mission.
You can always request other hosts to do so should you want one in specific.

Wish it was allowed ( for Firends only ) to select mission by not only host :D

a suggestion system would be nice
where users can suggest specific missions to the Host

It's called the chat box lol!

Just tell him with words, via your keyboard.

one point would be so people can prepare while host takjes a loo break
anopther would be that nonhosts can see what other choices host had
cause right now the console cant be accessed if not host or can it? (im actually not sure)

I know you can browse the current mission selection using tab, so I expect you can do the same interacting with the terminal. Can't look at the server list though.

I wouldn't mind being able to select missions as a suggestion to the host, but then I usually don't hang around in the lobby after the mission is done, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Selecting missions as client? No. Definitely not.

It would perhaps be a neat QoL feature though if you could click on a mission as a client, marking that particular mission for the host with some sort of symbol[static.thenounproject.com] and printing some automated message into chat.

Would be a lot easier than typing it into chat manually.

Players in the lobby can see the map and see the missions that are available, I guess the OP is just incapable of communicating for some reason and wants to force his choice over the host's because of some other unexplained reason.

The reason being not to comunicating with my friend BUT the ability to JUST choose the mission that's all.

My friend was doing Inventory things and perks and asked me to choose mission before he do his things and look around, after that i have found that i cannot select mission which was a bummer for us, he was like What ? you cannot select mission ?

i answered: No i cannot.
allright.

so only thing i wanted is to make it selectable just like that with toggleable option for steam friends only, maybe.
no other reason being here.

Finally, after asking three times, an actual answer! And the answer was: your friend was doing something and you could have picked out the mission and told him and then he would have picked it in about two seconds when he was ready, and that was two seconds too long for you; if he was doing inventory things then he wasn't ready to go anyway.

This is a giant nothingburger of a feature to save two seconds, I can imagine dozens of things that need development time more than this.

haha :D
it's pretty much nothing to develop such a tiny feature but if not then it's OK :steamhappy:

Oh, of course, of course! It's always easy when you know nothing of what's involved! I can't believe they don't just make the pathfinding perfect and fix every bug, I mean it's pretty much nothing right?

I tell you what, why don't you tell me all the different parts that would need to be added in order to implement this "pretty much nothing...tiny feature", okay? I'm interested to see your response, and be specific!

Borderlands ?
Killing Floor 2 ?
No Man's Sky ? ( a bit different though )
other games

and please stop talking about bugs and pathfinding, i'm talking about map selection it's small feature, nothing major and they already have it in game ( just for hosts ).

Is this going to be another "I have to ask you three times for you to actually answer the question" thing? We've already done that once in this thread, why can't you just answer the question?

I just asked why not to implement map selection for client, thats all, nothing else.

Other games have this thing already implemented, that's what i'm talking about.
