What do the Dwarves eat?
I have no idea how this is going to be received, but I've been thinking as I play how much food (or beer) would be needed to maintain the amount of calories needed to even do one mission, let alone probably a days worth of missions. And also what they would eat.

Do you think they stockpile pancakes and meats somewhere to get their 10,000 calorie a day diet? Or do you think they eat mushrooms and bug guts along the way?

Gnomes? I think you meant Dwarves my friend ;)
And as to what they eat? Anything that contains a lot of Vitamin D for sure, as they rarely see the sun down there.

They most definitely have a Red Sugar problem, and the doctors assure me steps will be taken to curtail this addiction.

If you go by Dwarf Fortress or Tolkien, it's pretty much just usual human stuff with the exception of a few strains of crops that grow well in low light. In reality a mostly subterranean race would not be capable of the activity that these dwarves keep up unless they imported their food (as they do in Middle Earth). Most troglobites are passive feeders. The largest ones are spiders and fish that feed off of small crustaceans. If there were dwarves as they are in this game (so shorter and more muscular humans basically) then they would probably be sustaining themselves off of eating the creatures of Hoxxes since it would be too difficult to set up a supply line or farm on the planet.

tl;dr they are probably obligate hunter/gatherers and graze on the biozone and alien arthropods. If I had to guess, they probably eat alien eggs, red sugar, boolo caps, and apoca blooms, if not the semi-cooked fare left behind after their excursions. And, of course, they drink a stein of beer after every mission which is a solid 300-400 Kcal at least for 20-40 minutes of activity (practically covers it right there).

Thisi s probably the correct answer. Dwarves ought to have a very high calorie intake as they do a LOT of heavy lifting in a relatively small package. I'd imagine that dwarven physiology allows them to better metabolize alchohol, which would explain why they drink so much; they can enjoy the buzzed effects while ignoring the long-term damage, and can likely metabolize the calories much better as a result.

^That. Dwarves have 17 organs and 13 of them are livers.

I thought they just drank ale, that's all the nutrition dwarves need.

It actually annoys me that Dwarves are always portrayed as drunks all the time; when you're right about the reality of it, they'd be able to drink more without getting drunk. Big difference!

Although the Dwarves in these games are space fairing so food wouldnt be an issue, they probably grow crops on the space rig, heck they could grow meat, humans can pretty much do that already.
Although in fantasy they could farm SOME things underground, soil permitting, otherwise its mostly liches and moss and mushrooms, bats and rodents and lizards for meat. Thats why ya need a surface/mountain entrance so you can farm the hills and let animals graze. Plus underwater rivers, big source of fish right there.

would you like to have a talk about leaf lovers and their magicical properties on how they can turn a wasted dwarf who is resilient to alcohol completely sober within one second after ingesting
