The Game Doesn't Use Exclusive Fullscreen, Only Borderless Fullscreen Which Causes Input Lag
Hi,

I have disabled fullscreen optimizations, set the game to work in fullscreen mode but it still only works in borderless fullscreen mode. I am using Windows 10 and a very easy way to figure out if a game is working in exclusive fullscreen mode or borderless is to press volume buttons on the keyboard (assuming you have one). If volume indicator appears on top left, the game is working in borderless fullscreen mode.

This both causes the game not to fully utilize system resources and to have input lag. Please consider looking into it because I would love to have the option to run my games in exclusive fullscreen mode.

Thank you.

UPDATE: Apparently, the fullscreen option should indeed make the game run in exclusive fullscreen mode, but there is a bug which makes the game run in borderless fullscreen mode even if exclusive fullscreen is selected.

To fix it, go to display settings, select windowed fullscreen and hit apply. You will see that nothing changes. Then set it back to fullscreen again, hit Apply and your game will now run in exclusive fullscreen mode.

I finally got rid of input lag, game is much more responsive. I hope the devs will look into it because I have to change the settings each time I launch the game.

I run in border less and never have input lag issues. It allows me to run a custom overlay.

Windows explorer uses so little resources it really doesn't matter unless you have severely underpowered hardware.
If you run in Win-borderless, you will have a one frame delay because of tripple-buffering (which is literally nothing).

That's not the issue. The issue is, the game runs in borderless fullscreen mode when I set it to exclusive fullscreen.

But that's hasn't been true since Vista.

It is true since every Windows OS version. If your game doesn't have exclusive focus, it'll share resources. Why do you think you can tab out to different programs more easily when you are in borderless mode?

Because of which program is controling the display output. Full screen doesn't make everything in the background stop using resoruces or stop running, you're just giving output of the display exclusively to whatever program you've got full screen. So when you tab out of the full screen program, your computer has to swap the display adaptors output from one method to another.

I won't even give an answer to that.

Why not?

I just got the game a few days ago, and I was wondering why the controls felt so clunky (having to press fire or flare twice a lot of the time because the first time wouldn't register). Now in full-screen it's much better.

That said, I think some optimization might still be required as I play other games in windowed mode and haven't had any issues with keys not registering.
