Crystals with electricity
Do not know about you but it generates a lot of fps lost in these crystals that are connected by electric sparks. They need to optimize these areas because when there are a lot of them shooting sparks they generate a lot of lag.

Seems like it might be a hardware issue, some people are having it, some people aren't. Regardless of specs.

It would be weird the truth, I can play the game in Epic at 60 Fps, but I just found this area (which I had never seen) and I started throwing some incredible jerks that made the game unplayable, later in another type of biomes present these problems.

Yeah I have a decent PC (i5 6500, 4gb GTX 960, 8Gb ram) and i have noticed the game does dip in fps around some areas (When loads of lights are there and sometimes the crystals electrical stuff)

Had the same issue of a much lower fps in areas with larger numbers of them, but I turned one setting down from epic to whatever was below that and it barely hits the fps now. It was likely something to reduce partical effects.

Still the fact it was crippling the framerate on a 1080ti, was rather alarming.

Certainly the problem is just with the electric crystals then. I also trust the creators of Deep Rock galactic, as I always see them doing a good job. Hopefully solve it soon to be able to easily enjoy the areas of electric crystals with epic graphics.

I get the impression it's an overload on the lighting engine and partilce effects. DRG has some pretty hefty load on light already and that stuffs probably making it explode into giblets if your GPU isn't up to handling that much light sourcing.

Just spitballing though, this could be in the code somewhere for all I know.

I7-4790k + GTX1080
Had my first encounter with the crystals and crashed.

I have more mid-range hardware and the game runs fine... until these darn crystals come around.
