How to Backup Save File
Been seeing a lot of people talking about how the experimental build wiped their saves or how purchasing the Supporters Edition after playing did the same. Got this info from their official discord. This is the location of your saves:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames

The file name will be Player.sav . Copy that to your desktop or a separate folder say documents before you ever go to connect to the experimental build or upgrading to the Supporters Edition.

Happy Mining and watch out for The Leech Queen :steammocking:

Why is it even possible to lose your progress after deciding to give the devs more money? Why have they designed a game that is distributed through a platform like Steam that still only uses local data? Why does a paying customer who pays more have the burden of pre-emptively taking steps to ensure the game doesn't screw them, when there's no reason to originally assume this problem exists in 2018? This shouldn't be an issue.

The devs need to fix the way progress is saved and they need to do it now, no matter what the excuse for this method of saving is. If they are capable of releasing a multiplayer game on Steam and asking for money, they are capable of ensuring that progression isn't tied to local files and persists through upgrades, glitches and re-installs. This is unprofessional.

It's in the game folder at /Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames

That's fantastic that it's in X game folder. Why is it not in the patch notes that the game now has online storage, and that the paying player is no longer responsible for doing the developers' jobs for them?

Do the Devs read this forum? They probably do. They appear to be a small team for a small game. It's plausible someone is checking this every few days, if not every day.

You need to address this issue sooner rather than later. Your game will not grow if you refuse to secure progression through reinstalls, microtransactions, and potentially even updates (Since you do not secure progression online, you cannot know that one of your own updates will not delete everyone's account progress.)

Players are not responsible for this. Do something about it.
It likely rather easy to move the save file but costly since they need a server, And right now they are focusing on gameplay and the progression system may change anyways wipeing everything.

That's not good enough. We're customers. They have our money. They can use some of it to establish online storage for what is a simple text document.

How few players will go out of their way to read this? Nobody is expected in 2018 to assume their progression in an online co-op game is their personal responsibity to backup. Why do they have our money if we have to do their job? They are responsible for fixing this.

Homie necro just to say where the save file located on windows version while we’re on steam 💀

I will use the thos necro for something important.

Steam Cloud only uploads the game when steam is running, do not close steam before the service is done after closing the game.

this is to get to the windows 10 Microsoft game file so that you can transfer your save data from Xbox onto Steam
