Deep Rock Galactic
Best noob class?
I'm new to the game, and was just wandering which class would be easiest to start off with? I don't want people to have unrealistic expectations if I choose a class that needs to be doing specific stuff.

As a newbie, I like the scout, because you're less likely to waste resources that the team might need, like ziplines. The only thing you actually need to remember is to use your flare gun to light up the ceiing of large chambers, and that's not too difficult. Other than that, it's just basic mining and shooting. And the grapple makes it easy to avoid getting stuck. Also, the scout's grenades can't hurt teammates, I think.

In my opinion all of the classes are easy to pick up as of now, all 4 have certain crucial things that would help your team tremendously, but this might change as the game progresses because I'm pretty sure the devs plan on fleshing out the classes way more. I love playing Driller but he seems like a turtle compared to everyone else regarding movement. Driller can't really build (unless you count giant holes in the walls as building) and although you can definitely traverse terrain, the grappling hook, ziplines, and platforms do it much better. TLDR; Play whatever class you feel like you'd like but if you want a suggestion, Gunner or Scout

I would say that all four utility tools have different strengths and weaknesses which is the mark of good balance.

In the case of the driller a lot of his strength comes from the fact that he has a large amount of fuel for his drills so he can afford to use them a lot more frequently than the gunner can use his ziplines and they can cover a lot of the same purposes such as getting up to ledges or crossing some gaps. He's also the best dwarf during evac since he can often just point his drills at the drop pod and dig his way there.

I'm not so sure if Gunner is the best newbie class to be honest. I've seen plenty of newbie Gunners wasting ziplines on small patches of resources and it's triggering :jimmykid:.

I'd say Driller is the most newbie friendly considering you can drill your own escapes.

It all depends on your team responsibility. If you're solo, I think scout is easiest because he's best at running and kiting with Bosco. On easy team games the gunner because it's just straight up shooting. On high complexity maps I think the gunner needs to be smart with zipline placement, so I'd say driller because his only responsibility is drilling an escape route if need be, and occasionally digging out minerals or shortcuts if the team gets separated.

I switched from gunner to scout after about 5 hours of game time. The scout I think is by far the best for new players. I found that if I'm afraid of wasting flares, I can just hold on to them, and eventually a teammate will just ask 'wheres the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flare' Problem Solved!
