Dwarf classes, ranking from most usefull to worthless
1. (best) Driller. Can get anywhere, anytime. Best dwarf for solo. Has enought ammo to drill directy to the escape pod after finishing the goal. Even more with upgrade.

2. Gunner. Best one to fight enemys. Can go anywhere and mine directy on the wall thanks to zip

3. Engineer. Good defensive setup. Plattform are handy

4. Scout. Good for revive fallen dwarfes. Worthless in anything else. Has huge problems to get ores. Worst class for solo. Cant mine while grable

Your list sounds like it's just a singleplayer list, especially when it comes to your reason why scout is the last. Scout is by far the fastest and most usefull miner when he has an engineer in the team providing him with platforms after hooking himself up.
By the time a driller has digged a way up to the precious ores the scouts already down again and mining the next vein

Wow heck no.

Engineer is the most versatile. Platforms up, platforms down. 2 backup turrents for solo or for additional defense in teams. He is clearly #1. Accurate, powerful shotgun, good grenade launcher, can get immune to poison.

Gunner : Very good for fighting and ziplines can get you up awkward areas if they aren't too steep. Second best because he will carry most of the fight in solo or team, and has the guns for it.

Scout : Third best character has a very bad shotgun and an okay (?) rifle. His infinite, recharge-based grapple is really nice to break your own fall, get annoying roof resources. He's sort of bad in combat but manageable. He can't actually "scout", which is the interesting thing.

Driller : Awful flamethrower. Yeah digging through stuff is helpful and especially straight to the escape pod, if you lose how to get back, but...really? Just..no.

Yeah I don't understand this list at all. I'd rank engy/scout as top, since they work so well together (although I'd rate scout higher since he can clear faster), gunner as third and driller dead last. The driller is almost worthless save for a quick escape, but it's unnecessary 90% of the time anyway.

They ALL have something to offer.
As said already a list of preference is more for a single player game.

Driller is misunderstood, still a good class though.

Most players use his flamethrower wrong, it's a DOT. Apply it and switch to your pistol. Also he's great for digging trenches in front of enemy spawns, this not only slows them down (mobs don't jump, they have to walk each wall surface to reach you) it makes it super easy for him to flamethrower them in the hole, and for others to lob grenades in.

Drilling passages for other less mobile teamates, quick escapes, and satchel charges to boot. Some of the best players I've encountered are drillers.

So totally wrong Scout is the strongest and is strong the best miner Paired with Engineer or if they use the terrain to there advantage Brightest light in the game so you can see theres 1 more point completely Disagree with this

The drills themself do some nice damage too in case your out of ammo when your inside a hole and they need to line up in front of you ;)

There's really no reason to bring a driller or gunner atm, as the scouts and engys work together better when doubled. We usually only bring a driller/gunner if we want to level classes after hitting 20 on our mains.

We're all happy you guys found a playstyle that works for you but that doesn't make them not useful.

I play with a team of 4 and we use all 4 classes, I've never felt that the gunner or driller weren't doing unique useful things and their weight.

Granted, I play Scout and Engineer mostly. So I'm obviously very fond of both classes like you.

The advantages of engy/scout aren't so heavy that it means you have to bring them, but if you want to do speed-runs, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you bring a driller or gunner.

That's only the case in dues though I'd think, not to mention you'd have serious trouble with swarms without a driller or gunner to take out groups of praetorians with satchel charges. Driller's flamethrower is great for groups of warriors or swarmers, put them on fire with it and use the pistol while letting the burn-damage tick. Driller is also great for getting up or down narrow areas where you'd otherwise use a lot of ziplines and platforms, thus leaving more of those to use otherwise in general.

And as for gunner, he shoots things very good, has satchel charges and has ziplines, which are a godsend in larger caves for traversing back and forth.

Fair enough, but no; I don't want to do speed runs.

You can unlock all the content on offer in quite a short time, why would I rush it even faster?

I'm more than happy to just play, the game is fun.

youre all wrong
literally , it all depends of the gamemode
elimination - go for fire power, gunner , engineer
extraction point - scout , engineer
find the eggs - driller - all of them
find resources - driller - scout - all of them

I have an alternate proposal.

Play whatever you want and have fun!

I was a 4 engineer team once, was a blast. The classes are well balanced enough that literally any team comp can work in some way.

I rarely see anyone play anything other than S&E or mining exped, and in that sense you go engy and scout always. But of course it depends on the game mode.
