Deep Rock Galactic
Game starts on wrong screen.
Hello.

This game is fun and all, but I have a small issue; the game starts on the wrong monitor every time I launch it and I have to manually put the game on windowed mode and then move it over to the main screen and then make it fullscreen again. My friend with multiple monitors also has the same issue. Are there any workarounds or fixes that I can do?

Is that monitor your default monitor? or monitor #1 by chance? Personaly I have no clue if being #1 affects anything, but this might be your problem. If not, I don't know how to help you.

Thanks for posting this as a current issue. I was thinking about buying it but hate it when games do this. More games need monitor preference settings.

lower your resolution in the game

put it in windowed

drag it in the good screen

full-screen with right resolution

SHIFT + Windows key + Right arrow as the game is starting should bring it over to your screen. Sometimes you will have to switch from windowed/fullscreen windowed and back to get it to fit, if you didn't move the game over before the main menu. It's an issue that I hope they're working on, as there have been a few bug reports on it.

I'm guessing that you're right, the monitor which the game decides to start on is labled as #1 in the display setting of W10, but it is however not my main display. So I'm guessing the game just puts the game on whichever monitor is "#1" and not on the one that's labled "main".

To the other people respondning: as I pointed out in the main post, I'm aware of how to work around the issue, but having to manually do this every time I want to play the game will eventually become an annoyance.

Bumping because despite being nearly four years old, this issue still has not been fixed. DRG launches on the wrong monitor, every single time, and--this is the inexcusable part--still has no option to tell the game which monitor it should be launching on.

Four years later and this basic graphics option still doesn't exist. I've put a lot of time into this game, and they've done a great job with a lot of other things, but this is shameful.

Are you sure the right monitor is set to monitor 1 in your pc settings? I would assume so, but we may as well take that off the table

It is for me, and I have the exact same issue as well. The game launches on Monitor 2, and tries to hop back to it automatically whenever it can if I try to fix it, so I can only play in windowed mode.

Necro-ing this thread.

I had been playing this just fine for a while, then at some point accidentally hit some combination of keys and my game window jumped over to my second monitor. Some quick searching brought up the Windows + Shift + Right Arrow combination to move it back over, so that was fine...

However, every time I start the game it starts on the correct monitor then, about halfway through the Coffee Stain logo, it hops over to the wrong one on its own accord. After moving it to the correct one, entering the options menu will cause the game to pop back over to the wrong monitor again. This isn't game-breaking, but it's really annoying. Given that it starts on the correct monitor first then hops over as part of the loading process, it really seems like a hidden, internal setting in DRG.

Devs, please please please add a monitor selection in your graphics settings options menu. I do not know what super secret squirrel configuration I managed to change that makes this game, and only this game, think it needs to start on the wrong monitor... but I'd love to be able to change it.

Thanks.

Try putting it in windowed mode, and lower the resolution so that you can manually move the window. Move it to the correct screen, resize and set to full screen, then exit and relaunch. See if that helps.

Mine LAUNCHES on the correct screen (Screen 1) but then instantly snaps back to my second screen (Screen 2)

What is particularly annoying is, when I change the resolution and put it in windowed mode, and drag it to the correct screen and then apply changes, it snaps back to incorrect monitor after changes are applied.

This started happening last night. I've never encountered this issue before, and I have changed nothing to cause this issue to start affecting me.

FIX: TL;DR at bottom.
Just saw this post and was having the same issue. It got to where every time I resumed after pausing, it would change. I changed my "Screen mode" from Windowed to Windowed Fullscreen, worked like a charm!...NOW, the catch. It still started on the wrong screen, but after a quick screen change (Shift + WIN + Left Arrow), it actually stuck!

TL;DR Changed Windowed mode to Windowed Fullscreen. Still starts on wrong screen for me, press Shift + WIN + Left (or right) Arrow to change.

Update: I managed to fix mine. It now launches ans stays on the correct screen.
I did this by unlocking my taskbar, swapping which taskbar portion was on which screen, and relocking my taskbar

I disabled having the taskbar on all displays and made sure the taskbar was on my primary screen, and it still switched to the 2nd screen when it got to the start menu. Glad the solution works for you though.
