The windows 10 store gets crossplay with the Xbox one, however a lot of people think the steam version will outlive both of those versions. Plus, personally... I hate the windows store. So I'd go for steam.

yea i hate it too but its cheaper and if the game is the same why not, but can i play if someone have the game on steam ?
as far as I am aware, you cannot cross play a steam version with one from the micrsoft store

As he correctly said, Steam is seperate from the windows store and xbox versions. The Crossplay they utilise is a microsoft supported thing so the steam version doesn't have access to it, maybe in the future but don't buy it here if you really really need that crossplay cause we may never get it.

I play everything through PC and have found xbox play anywhere to be laggy in comparison to steam games, ive also found steam to have somewhat more mature community and thats saying a lot lol. if all your friends use steam for most games get it on steam if you have an xbone or friends with one thatll play then get the microsoft store version

I know this is a late response, but for anyone reading this forum...

I purchased both versions. Steam to play with some friends and Windows Store to play with others who have Xbox. In my experience so far, the windows store version runs much worse. It crashes often and has framerate issues that the steam version simply doesn’t have.

I cannot even open the windows store on my computer. Steam has lot of features as it is so would go with it anyways.

Windows Store is cancer so I would recommend the Steam one regardless of any trepidation you have about it

No crossplay between W10/XB1 store and steam version

At present the Windows Store version is a UWP app, which means it has inevitable performance and stability issues. I would avoid it like the plague.

Windows 10 Store? Hahaha no. Don't. Instead, buy it somewhere you know you'll be able to take it with you, such as Steam.

I've never liked using the Windows store, if I could migrate my games from it, I definitely would. Given that Steam already has an established, and pretty dedicated community, I'd say you'll get more mileage out of a steam purchase.

.......
what has happened to me:
gfwl: i cannot play games i paied for. My account is gone no support was ever given.
Steam: i still have and can play games i purchased in 2007.

Windows has always treated me like ♥♥♥♥. No consideration for my needs and a dictatorship style front.

Steam has supported my gamin needs, updates, news, community, and events. I can even get a refund with 5 clicks.

I dont trust windows product and services. I dont like windows products and services they are miserable to use.

For the love of man.... windows flat out bribes people to use Bing and its still a complete failure and pos......
