I am not a big fan of hockey but this game had attracted me when I saw it for the first time. Art style is cozy and reminds me about some cartoons also there are many references to famous people.
In this game there's coop play but I played only campaign because I dont have any friends. Campaign has a humble plot to answer why you need to do what you're doing.
Gameplay is perfectly adapted to controller. So in campaign you have to win three games and one boss (and so on three times) then you'll get a cup. You need 10 cups and then you'll complete campaign (I suppose). In every single run you will choose a coach that gives you certain buffs, create your roster and play matches of course. After every win u'll get talents and / or attributes which will help you during the match, improve some of your players or give them special ability.
Each run will be played with different abilities and some new players but all opponents remain the same. Also there is always a choice which opponent u want to play against. So every new run will not be the same as the previous one but not completely different, it depends on you.
Your opponents have their unique play style: they can have cool skills, special tricks (like teleport), they can outnumber you, be enormous or it will be a football match instead of hockey.
I really like Tape to Tape and I recommend it.

I know nothing about hockey, generally don't like rogue-likes, but within 2 hours this game has me hooked.
Super intuitive (even if you don't know the sport), fun sense of humour, great artwork, silly chaos that brazenly plays unfairly towards you, but never in a stressful way and more often satisfying/funny to overcome. I don't fully understand meta-progression yet, seems tied to quests more than just finishing a run, but the compendium in the main menu suggests there's a ton of stuff I haven't seen yet.

I see a lot of "if you like hockey/NHL" and "if you like rogue-likes" reviews, so was apprehensive to try this. But even for someone who likes neither, it's immediately pretty great!

Tape to Tape (T2T) is a refreshing addition to Steam and it's a lot of fun to play, especially if you're a fan of ice hockey and even more especially if you've played a console hockey game before.

There's a lot to like in this game. I'm not a big fan of the roguelike approach to hockey here, I'd prefer to have this game's mechanics but a single-season to play where losses don't end runs. I'd also prefer to have a choice of team that doesn't feature a mohawked redhead dude. In short, I'd like a lot more customization. Maybe that's a different game for Excellent Rectangle to make using this engine? Not sure, but it'd be successful.

As it stands, great runs end abruptly and without fanfare after the referee team, or cultist team, or even the cheating Canadians knock you out. Then you're back at it again, until you face them again.

T2T is an enjoyable ice hockey game that's very accessible. The game keeps a lot of the spirit of the old NES and SNES EA Hockey games but updates it for a modern audience. I'd personally prefer to play a season mode with my own wacky characters, a lot more team variety and logo variety. That's not what this game is, but I do believe that with T2T, Excellent Rectangle have established themselves as a PC-based sports gaming software company and that's a real good thing.

Skill issues abound: like any sports games, play more to get good.
