Quest 3 won't be on sale anytime soon.
At this point to still be trashing wireless VR seems really in-genuine.
I'm not sure why you seem to think I'm anti-Meta or that I'm in some way denying the benefits of wireless VR. I just had a big conversation with someone else earlier in the thread about how I wanted to get a Quest 3 so I could take it outside and play room-scale VR in a tool shed I have.
And I actually think Meta has probably done more than Valve at this point for VR. I mean, Valve launched one big AAA VR game... (HL:A), which is great, but Meta has like a whole catalog of AAA VR exclusive games they published. Of course, I'm not saying a game has to be AAA to be good, but there's no denying that AAA game releases in VR are a big deal because of their ability to draw new people into VR so they buy VR headsets.
The sad reality is that when a great quality indie game like Vertigo 2 comes out in VR it's most likely the general gaming public really doesn't give a crap, so they feel no pressure to buy a VR headset from a Vertigo 2 release. But when a big AAA game franchise they probably already know and love like Half-Life, Star Wars, or Resident Evil come to VR and require a VR headset to play... they suddenly feel like a game they want requires them to get a VR headset... which draws a lot of new people into VR and speeds up the growth of the VR industry.
I was torn between a quest 3 and index, but went with the quest since it's wireless and cheaper. Definitely worth it.
How big can the room-scale VR experience get for standalone games on the Quest 3?
There must be some kind of limit right? I've been reading over the Quest 3 info on their website and can't find anything about what the maximum size limits are for the room-scale play areas.
I got some lens ordered off Zenni a few days ago that snap in and out of the quest for my prescription. Hopefully it works well. looking at the honsvr they look the same as what I ordered and the same price.
I mean I am sure they can, but I turned off all of the privacy stuff and opted out of sending them data to "improve Meta" or whatever. So you can opt out, but that doesn't really mean much I am sure since they could easily see what you are doing. I just used my current facebook account and linked meta to it not a big deal. If it bothers you, you could just make a fake facebook account, but If you own a cell phone different companies get your data everyday anyways there is no true privacy anymore.
