VR is blurry
I previously played Alyx on my Quest 2 with the link cable.
I recently played Batman Arkham Shadow on the Quest 3 and then booted up Alyx on the device with a link cable attached.
In every case, the resolution appears too low. I’m used to playing at 4K on my huge Oled Television. 📺 i love the games, they are beautiful to look at and great to play, but why is the resolution so low?
The Quest 3 boasts superior resolution to the Quest 2. But honestly, I fail to perceive a noticeable improvement over the Quest 2. 🤷‍♂️

That's because Quest 2 and 3 are near each other in resolution. What you want is higher end VR like a Varjo XR-4 paired with a 5090 or 4090 and a Ryzen 3D chip.

I dont have this problem. Check your settings. Batman running on the quest 3 is fine but really lacks color and debth and feels very much made for a phone processor. But running Alyx on my 4090 PC makes it one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. Resolution should not be an issue with this game. I recommend checking things in this order. 1. the cable quality test in the oculus software 2,.The headset settings in the headset itsself and 3. the game settings in the Alyx settings.

Another thing to note is that Alyx has dynamic resolution scaling active by default. It will prioritize your headsets refresh rate and try to maintain that FPS by auto lowering resolution. A common mistake people make is setting everything to high or ultra, thinking that will force the best graphics but the game will lower your resolution in order to try to maintain FPS if your PC does not have the overhead for the extra bells and whistles.
Example, Fog should set to medium: beyond that is mostly imperceptible, Shadows at medium to high.

You can also lower your refresh rate and see if that will boost your resolution, see what the game looks like at 80 hrz.

You can disable dynamic resolution scaling altogether by adding this to launch options:

+vr_fidelity_level_auto 0

Then you can set your own resolution level with:

+vr_fidelity_level 1-8 (3 is default, on a 4090 I run at 6)
