Half life 1 and 2 VR remake?
Would it be hard to remake these 2 games in VR? would be great if valve did it.

Generally yes. The just released VR mod for Half Life 2 got initially greenlit in 2017 so it's been in production for a fair while. Certainly not something that can be quickly turned around.

Would be quite cool if someone did VR HL1 (or better, the Black Mesa remake to get the higher res textures etc) but not holding my breath for it. Not sure it would suit quite as well as it doesn't have really the same levels of interaction as HL2 does.

Extremely unlikely Valve would do it - they're far more likely to leave it to the community as per the HL2 mod - and if they were to do it it would more likely be a full reimagining/remake rather than just a mod given the age of the original.

Suspect if Valve are going to work on anything it will be new games either in the HL universe or new IP rather than looking backwards to mod older games.

It would be great if valve let someone else remake 1 and 2 with the alyx engine and graphics, those games would sell well.

Certainly can't see them stopping anyone to be honest.

The only real blocker is that they haven't yet released the full Source 2 tools yet so "full" remakes like that are less likely yet.
Though to be fair some pretty impressive stuff like Return to Rapture has been done with the limited set already available.

Yup. I've played the first hour up to most of the way through Chapter 3. I recorded the playthrough and currently uploading it to Youtube in case anyone fancies watching.

I played it a little and already the game feels way better than alyx both in story and level design, the only thing that sucks for me is that i want to move with the left stick and have the weapons on the left stick but it doesnt seem to work.

To be honest to me it feels emptier. Alyx has a very rich world (naturally if nothing else because it's a far more modern game with far higher res textures and better modern lighting etc) and HL2 feels a lot flatter.

In same cases it's not a fair comparison anyhow because I know HL2 super well so this is far from my first playthough, and it's hard to keep the same magic it had that first time.

I guess that's partly also why I feel a little more detached and less immersed in the story. I know beat-for-beat what's going to happen and who's going to say what so it has far less emotional impact.

it's still a lot of fun and it's great being there in the heart of the action.

I havent played HL2 before so maybe thats why, the world is of course alot emptier but the pacing and the story ,enemy encounters and the enviroment overall feels like a deeper game than alyx which to me felt simple and not as inspired.

The HL2VR mod is pretty damn good. Only about an hour in but can't wait to get deeper.

Its good but the graphics is too outdated, the game itself is much better and more fun than alyx, they should remake it with alyx graphics.
