Half-Life: Alyx only launching in desktop mode, not loading into vr.

I can play the game like that kinda, but i want to go back to VR and for some reason it just launches on the desktop with mouse and keyboard rather than full VR. It happened after I launched the workshop tools with "no vr" but I tried unchecking it and it just does it again. Anyone having the same issue? Its really annoying because I can't play the game properly so i have just been replaying BONEWORKS. Thanks!
