I'm using the Valve Index, presumably on auto resolution at 144Hz. RAM is set on dual channel.
I used CPU-Z to check it, and apparently the DRAM frequency is 1064.1 MHz.
I tried to enable the AMP (first time in my life) and the frequency changed to roughly 1600 MHz. It's still not 3.2 GHz. Maybe I messed up with something. I'll try that again.
EDIT: the BIOS charts say that it's now running at full frequency. I formerly checked just on CPU-Z. I'll see what happens in game and I'll tell you. Thanks anyway.
Don't run Half-Life Alyx on 144hz. I suggest to lower it to 90hz and see how that goes. Than if you want than u could try 120hz.
You can use a program like fpsvr to see your performance.
Ok, so the memory runs as it should. Today I learned something useful!
Uhm, I'll try to lower the refresh rate of the HMD. Thanks. I'll tell you if it works.
Ah, I already use FPSvr, and I got interesting results with that: sometimes the CPU chart goes crazy, registering with red spikes at a certain frequency. I don't know how to interpret those spikes, though... The GPU seems to work normally.
Woah, I never thought it would have been such an issue.
I'll tell you if it fixes anything. I can't play the game right now.
Ah, thanks. I read you can set the priority through the Task Manager (Details tab, then right click on the application to set the priority). I still didn't try that. I'll tell you if it works.
I have the exact same. I started the game on a 1070 and was flawless but by mid game I got a 2070 Super and noticed some stutters but when I started a new game the part where you get the gun is a slide show and happens every time now. The rest of the game is 95% flawless but the game was butter smooth on a 1070
