Honestly this doesn't sound like something Valve would do. I'm 100% certain that if they release a new VR game in the next few years, they will make sure it works well enough with all common VR headsets. I mean just look at how they put development work into Steam Link for helping Quest 3 users play Steam games on their Quest 3 devices.
Shouldn't surprise you considering he made some other thread celebrating the VR-removing mod for Half-Life: Alyx. The guy is probably closed-minded toward VR, as well as angry and bitter about having to buy a VR headset to properly enjoy HL:A.
What will we get next from him? Perhaps a comment something along the lines of: "VR games are bad, the only VR game worth playing is Half-Life: Alyx, and it doesn't justify buying a VR headset cuz there aren't any other of muh favorite TriPPle AY flat-game franchises I buy every year available as VR games, but if there were more of those franchises made into VR games, I'll make angry posts on the game forums complaining about it!"
I'm definitely not worried about Alyx 2 being exclusive to certain headsets. What I am worried about is Valve might cave in to these people with the closed-minded boomer attitude toward VR and make the future games for flat players, then us enlightened VR players will have to go to the Metaverse for our VR fix.
So if they don't want Steam games like HL:A to work on other headsets other than whatever their newest headset is, why did Valve just create Steam Link to make their games run well on Meta/Oculus hardware? And, for that matter, why did Half-Life: Alyx work so well on Meta/Oculus brand VR headsets in the past, even though they are a company hostile to Valve?
LOL you just hate Valve because their newest Half-Life game requires a VR headset and you don't want to go buy a Quest 2 so you can properly enjoy the game. Bitter, angry, and lashing out at one of the most consumer-friendly and greatest game developing companies in the world.
You seem to have a case of "sour grapes" (I can't have the grapes, therefore I'll try and find ways to rationalize why I don't actually want them.")

Ah so I'm right. Thought so. Off you and your odd vendetta against Valve toddle to the block list.
