Funny enough, in the afternoon it's worse.
I thought it might ba a WifI connection issue but luckily on the Quest 3 you can hook up a ethernet adapter.
So I played with ethernet connection today, fantastic picture but again a crash on loading.
If I use virtual desktop, then there are no crashs but it can have massive lags, apparentl virtual desktop can't adapt the streaming quality as fast :-/
Sometimes I could play it for 1 2 houres, no problem but then again, crash on every loading event.
The later somehow more in the afternoon.
I changed the possition of my wifi router and in the end tried even with a USB-C Ethernet adapter, wich by thew way functions and gives superp picture etc. however, again a crash on loading.
If I use virtual desktop, instead of steam link, there are no crashes at all, but the connection via wifi stinks, hang ups, lags etc.
So now I hoocked up the Quest 3 with the USB-C ethernet adapter AND used virtual desktop.
That resulted in a perfect game, superb picture, no lag and no crashes.
(Second half of the North Star Hotel.)
(Crashing when the game loads due to player death or manual save state loading.)
I tested playing the game using VDXR instead of SteamVR, and the same occurs.
So I think it's a problem with the game itself, not SteamVR.
(Plus, it doesn't happen in any other SteamVR games.)
If I load a saved game I'll appear with only my right hand and can continue through the level, but the second I change to my gun it will crash the entire game.
Maybe unrelated but I had a completely great experience, then subscribed to both gunman contracts and played that a bit which was fine, then went back to Alyx and it was stuffed.
I have now unsubscribed to gunman contracts and verified the integrity of the download on steam to try that.
1. I noticed my headset randomly connected to my 2.5ghz network so reconnected to 5g (didn't fix it alone)
2. un subscribed to mods
3. re checked the integrity of the game files through steam
4. made sure I set the fidelity in game to low
5. turned my headset off and restarted steam VR
this fixed my issues and now running great.
Hope it works for you
