Huge opening price too with no availability outside the USA for a while following the release.
Apple has it's fair share of fans who love to get their hands on the latest Apple tech, but their asking price for entry into what is still a relatively niche (and now in decline) VR/AR market is likely far too big of an ask, even for them.
I doubt we'll see Half-Life: Alyx on it in the future. PSVR2 is far more likely to see Half-Life: Alyx, and even that might not happen, with Valve reportedly busy on multiple other projects.
My biggest gripe about the Apple Pro and the Meta Quest line is people expect to be able to run Steam VR games, but their software libraries aren't compatible with other headsets like the Index or HTC which makes the "Metaverse" a lie.
?? I've been playing exclusively Steam VR on my Quest 2 and Rift S before that... its very much open
I think you're missing the point, they play SteamVR games because Valve have enabled support for Meta devices maintaining their Open system approach, it doesn't work the other way as the Meta (Oculus) games are only designed to run on Meta devices. That's not really implementing Open Systems on the part of Meta.
