Apple Vision Pro headset play Half-Life: Alyx ~
Apple just announced the Apple Vision Pro headset, most of your guys may have a question is it support to play Half-Life: Alyx, The answer is NO

  1. The Apple headset is runs visionOS, - operating system
  2. visionOS has no Steam app in their new OS App Store (its has own App Store featuring apps created for the new visionOS platform.)
  3. visionOS not support / connect into Windows to run app / games (its only run built for visionOS app)
  4. Wait for valve release a version for Apple Vision Pro, just like PSVR2

Like the PSVR2 it's all helping to evolve AR/VR technology and attempt to make it more mainstream. Just a shame that these are not designed around open systems that would open up far bigger markets for all AR/VR developers to sell into.

Huge opening price too with no availability outside the USA for a while following the release.

I really can't see this taking off.
Apple has it's fair share of fans who love to get their hands on the latest Apple tech, but their asking price for entry into what is still a relatively niche (and now in decline) VR/AR market is likely far too big of an ask, even for them.

I doubt we'll see Half-Life: Alyx on it in the future. PSVR2 is far more likely to see Half-Life: Alyx, and even that might not happen, with Valve reportedly busy on multiple other projects.

Duh, the Apple pro isn't made for gamers (hence the PRO in the name)and won't support Steam VR. Most of the software made for it is going to be proprietary.
My biggest gripe about the Apple Pro and the Meta Quest line is people expect to be able to run Steam VR games, but their software libraries aren't compatible with other headsets like the Index or HTC which makes the "Metaverse" a lie.

I think you're missing the point, they play SteamVR games because Valve have enabled support for Meta devices maintaining their Open system approach, it doesn't work the other way as the Meta (Oculus) games are only designed to run on Meta devices. That's not really implementing Open Systems on the part of Meta.

Apple Vision Pro owner here. Steam Link does work, it is not perfect. Keyboard supported, mouse is not. Basically you can use it as a monitor for your desktop and use that desktops mouse and keyboard at your desk. This is only day 3 with this thing. Here's to hoping they make a dedicated app like they did for the Meta

So you're telling me it'll be a very frustrating device that will be utterly ignored on launch like any other headset that doesn't respect SteamVR/OpenXR?
