Sitting and playing

Can this game in vr be played sitting down? I imagine the trackers have to be set up correctly. I bought an index, then cancelled it, but I'm seriously thinking of buying it for realz...lol. Also, i see on a 8 month old utube vid they replaced the controllers. Are they new now if i order the set?

It has a mode for playing when sitting and i've used it so far. It basically gives you a toggle between predefined standing and crouching heights.
It's not ideal since obviously there are things that are at waist height which you won't be able to reach while standing in game and sitting in real life. So for example, i open majority of doors in game while crouched.

Also chair tilt plays a role, since if it's tilted back you're technically taller and have to literally huch/look down to go through some of the tighter passages.

It's not unplayable by any means but it has its quirks.

Thanks! Anybody know about if the controllers are new and improved? I'm getting ready to pull the plug and re-order it. I'm getting obsessed.

Screw it...i just bought it. I'm getting older, and have a little $$ set aside for retirement. I love half-life games, and replay them a lot. I think they are the best games ever made. I can't wait to play alyx.

I recently was able to get cinematic mod and mmod to work WITH character pimper, but i started getting too many crashes. It would be really cool if half life 2 could be played with cinematic and mmod...(no character pimper needed).

does Alyx support mods? What is character pimper (i checked a wiki but wasn't impressed) and how it relates to Alyx?

Never mind. I ended up not buying the index. Vr isn't ready for prime time. I never played or owned a vf headset. Not worth the hassle. And I did hear that Alyx does support some mods, but you'll have to ask someone who has experience.

@kaka...i knew it comes free, cause i still have it in my library from when i 1st ordered the index, but canceled it. I wasn't sure about the workshop. You a real keyboard warrior, attacking me for no reason, so don't call me your names.

I sat and played my first time around and am playing a second time through sitting again. It as two heights you can toggle with a click of the joystick and the second joystick puts you into a crouch mode.
